Value Apothecaries Inc. is seeking a Pharmacy Call Center Technician for an onsite, 40-hour week in West Reading, PA. You will create patient profiles, enter prescription data, and resolve insurance issues to ensure accurate processing and patient care.

Ideal candidates have at least 2 years ambulatory pharmacy experience and national certification (PTCB). State certification is acceptable if equivalent. Strong communication and teamwork are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years ambulatory pharmacy experience.
  • Pharmacy Technician Certification required (PTCB or equivalent).
  • State certification acceptable if equivalent to national standards.

Responsibilities

  • Create patient profile in pharmacy information system.
  • Enter prescription plan information for processing and adjudication.
  • Enter new patient prescription data in system.
  • Resolve insurance and reimbursement issues with providers and patients.
  • Support ambulatory pharmacy business goals and metrics.
  • Prepare medications for pharmacist review and verification.
  • Submit and receive inventory, manage stock.
  • Answer inbound calls and triage to appropriate staff.
  • Assist with adjudicated claims and therapeutic consults.
  • Support pharmacy benefit manager communications and ambulatory dispensing tech.
  • Deliver medications and supplies to patients as needed.

Job Details

Location: This is an onsite, Pharmacy Call Center Technician position located in West Reading, PA 19611 supporting Tower Health retail pharmacy operations in an office-based setting. This role is Full-time role - 40hrs per week

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for creating a patient profile in the pharmacy information system.
  • Enters necessary prescription plan information in the patient profile for processing and adjudicating patient’s prescriptions.
  • Responsible for entering all new patient prescription information into the pharmacy information system.
  • Addresses insurance, reimbursement, and payment issues as appropriate by communicating with insurance providers, patients and pharmacists.
  • Participates in achieving business goals and metrics for the Ambulatory Pharmacy.
  • Retrieves and prepares the medication for pharmacist review and verification.
  • Prepares inventory reports for pharmacist review to purchase.
  • Submits, receives, and places inventory in stock.
  • Answers inbound telephone calls and triages calls as appropriate based upon the nature of the call to the appropriate staff.
  • Assists with the reviews and handling of all adjudicated prescription claims to ensure appropriateness of reimbursement, co-pay and related financials and, if needed, as directed, follows up all such claims deemed inappropriate.
  • Assists Pharmacist by providing required information for therapeutic consults with patients.
  • Intervenes with Pharmacy Benefit Manager Companies to resolve plan and patient specific adjudication issues.
  • Supply and monitor ambulatory dispensing robotic technology.
  • Actively participates by delivering medications and pharmaceutical supplies to patients as outlined by the concierge prescription program.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
Education

Normally requires a minimum of two (2) years directly related and progressively responsible ambulatory pharmacy experience; bachelor's degree program preferred. Pharmacy technician certification with a national technical certification organization, such as Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or other comparable national certification required. State pharmacy certification is acceptable if core competencies are equal to or better than national certification requirements. Employees holding a Trainee license must upgrade to a Technician license before the expiration of their Trainee license. For further information, please consult the state board of Pharmacy.
