Job summary

Interwest Consulting Group is seeking a Structural Plans Examiner to join our CA-based team in a remote capacity. The role requires residency in California and focuses on reviewing plans for compliance with CA codes, CBC, CRC, and related standards, while communicating deficiencies clearly to applicants and inspectors.

Responsibilities include evaluating plans for city and state regulations, assisting inspectors with complex issues, and delivering timely, accurate reviews.

Qualifications

  • Structural or Civil Professional Engineer required.
  • CASp certification preferred.
  • ICC Residential Plan Review Certifications Preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license with good driving record.
  • 3-5 years' experience in structural design and structural plan review.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews plans and specifications to ensure compliance with city, state, and federal laws; provide timely written or oral comments.
  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Review building permits with regards to regulations set by the Building Divisions.
  • Assist inspectors with difficult or unusual code compliance issues and respond to questions.
  • Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with internal and external customers to gain cooperation.
