Calibration Technician – Metrology & Measurement Systems

Asplundh Electrical Testing is seeking a Calibration Technician with strong metrology expertise to join our growing team in Foxborough, MA. This role is ideal for a technically skilled professional who understands the critical importance of measurement accuracy, uncertainty, and traceability in regulated environments.

The Calibration Technician is responsible for executing and managing in‑lab and field calibration activities to ensure all measurement instruments and test systems consistently meet NIST‑traceable, regulatory, and quality system requirements. In this role, you will serve as a technical resource for calibration methodologies, data integrity, and continuous improvement, directly supporting quality, safety, and operational excellence.

You will join a high‑performance operations team that values precision, accountability, and technical mastery. Your work will play a key role in maintaining trust in mission‑critical electrical testing systems used by our customers.

What You’ll Do
  • Perform and verify in‑lab and on‑site calibrations for electrical, mechanical, and thermal measurement instruments, maintaining full traceability to NIST or equivalent standards
  • Manage calibration workflows, records, and assets using Fluke MET/CAL, MET/TEAM, and the Fluke Customer Portal, ensuring data accuracy, version control, and audit readiness
  • Evaluate calibration results for drift, stability, uncertainty, and process capability, recommending corrective actions and calibration interval adjustments as needed
  • Prepare detailed reports related to calibration performance, turnaround time, and equipment status using Crystal Reports and advanced Excel functions
  • Support internal and external audits by presenting calibration procedures, records, and traceability documentation in alignment with quality system requirements
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on accuracy, efficiency, throughput, and customer satisfaction using data‑driven analysis
  • Work in laboratory and field environments, including extended periods of standing, operating precision instruments, and lifting moderate weights
  • Travel to customer or operational sites as required
Experience & Qualifications
  • 2–3+ years of hands‑on calibration and metrology experience, gained through relevant civilian job experience and/or military technical service
    • Experience may come from:
      • Commercial or accredited calibration laboratories
      • Field service or operational test environments
      • Military calibration, PMEL, TMDE, instrumentation, or electrical test roles
  • Strong foundation in electrical measurement principles, calibration theory, measurement uncertainty, and traceability systems
  • Demonstrated experience calibrating and troubleshooting a wide range of test and measurement equipment, including:
    • Digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and multiproduct calibrators
    • High‑voltage probes, hipots, DLROs, micro‑ohmmeters
    • Pressure gauges, transducers, and process instruments
    • Temperature sensors, thermal systems, and environmental chambers
    • Carrier equipment and insulated poles
  • Proven analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to interpret data and identify root causes
  • Experience working within regulated quality systems and supporting audits, inspections, or formal reviews
Technical Skills
  • Advanced or working knowledge of Fluke MET/CAL, MET/TEAM, and Fluke Editor
  • Strong reporting and data analysis skills using Crystal Reports, Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, macros), and Word
    • Understanding of:
      • Measurement uncertainty and risk‑based decision‑making
      • Calibration interval determination
      • Equipment tolerance analysis
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Teams and collaborative digital tools
  • Excellent organizational and documentation skills with strong attention to detail
  • Effective communication skills in both cross‑functional and customer‑facing environments
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, compliance‑driven setting
Education & Credentials
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Metrology, Electronics, Instrumentation, or Engineering (Electrical or related technical field) or 5+ years relevant experience
  • ASQ Certified Calibration Technician (CCT) strongly preferred
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
