Base Compensation Range: $30.29/hr - $37.86/hr
This position is eligible for an annual 10% bonus opportunity in addition to the base salary.

Job Summary
The Calibration Technician IV is the senior technical specialist responsible for performing complex calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of precision test and measurement equipment used in manufacturing, laboratory, and service environments. This role serves as a technical resource for the calibration team, performs the most difficult calibration activities, resolves complex equipment issues, supports continuous improvement efforts, and provides technical guidance to less experienced technicians. The Calibration Technician IV works independently with minimal supervision while ensuring compliance with quality, regulatory, and safety standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Calibration, Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Perform complex calibration, adjustment, verification, maintenance, and repair of precision test and measurement equipment across multiple technologies.
- Independently troubleshoot complex calibration failures, equipment malfunctions, and measurement discrepancies using advanced diagnostic techniques.
- Perform advanced electrical, mechanical, pressure, temperature, flow, dimensional, and specialized instrument calibrations.
- Evaluate equipment condition and recommend repair, refurbishment, replacement, or retirement as appropriate.
- Ensure calibration standards and equipment maintain required traceability and measurement integrity.
Technical Leadership & Problem Solving
- Serve as the technical resource for complex calibration questions and unusual measurement challenges.
- Provide technical guidance and day-to-day support to Calibration Technicians and other technical personnel.
- Assist in resolving difficult equipment issues requiring advanced technical expertise.
- Review complex calibration results and recommend corrective actions.
- Support investigations related to calibration discrepancies, equipment failures, or audit findings.
Documentation, Compliance & Quality Systems
- Maintain complete calibration records, certificates, maintenance histories, and traceability documentation.
- Ensure calibration activities comply with ISO 17025, NIST traceability, FDA, GMP, and company quality system requirements.
- Support internal and external audits by providing technical documentation and responding to calibration-related inquiries.
- Review calibration documentation for completeness, accuracy, and compliance.
Continuous Improvement & Process Support
- Identify opportunities to improve calibration methods, documentation, equipment utilization, and workflow efficiency.
- Assist with implementation of new calibration equipment, software, procedures, and technologies.
- Participate in root cause investigations and corrective action activities related to calibration systems.
- Recommend improvements that increase equipment reliability, measurement accuracy, and operational efficiency.
- Support standardization of calibration procedures across equipment and facilities where applicable.
Equipment & Asset Management
- Maintain calibration standards, reference equipment, specialized tools, and support equipment.
- Monitor calibration schedules and ensure equipment remains within required calibration intervals.
- Assist with evaluation, procurement, and qualification of new calibration equipment and standards.
- Support inventory management of calibration standards, spare parts, and consumable materials.
Training & Technical Development
- Provide technical coaching and mentoring to Calibration Technicians.
- Assist with onboarding and technical training for new technicians.
- Demonstrate proper calibration techniques, documentation practices, and troubleshooting methods.
- Promote knowledge sharing and technical best practices across the calibration team.
- Maintain current knowledge of calibration technologies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements through continuous learning.
Experience & Education
- Associate degree in Electronics, Instrumentation, Industrial Technology, Metrology, or related technical discipline preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 6 years of progressively responsible experience in calibration, instrumentation, metrology, or related technical environment.
- Equivalent combination of education, technical training, military experience, and related work experience will be considered.
Knowledge & Skillsets
- Advanced knowledge of calibration principles, instrumentation, and measurement science.
- Expertise calibrating electrical, mechanical, pressure, temperature, dimensional, and electronic instrumentation.
- Advanced troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Strong understanding of ISO 17025, NIST traceability, FDA, GMP, and quality system requirements.
- Ability to interpret technical specifications, engineering drawings, calibration procedures, and manufacturer documentation.
- Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to mentor and provide technical guidance to other technicians.
- Proficiency with calibration management software, CMMS, and Microsoft Office.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Operations.
