Job summary

CesiumAstro seeks a detail-oriented Calibration Engineer to join the Quality Engineering Team. You will ensure accuracy and reliability of aerospace measurement and test equipment (M&TE), develop, implement, and maintain calibration processes, and drive compliance with AS9100, ISO 17025 and related standards.

You will lead calibration procedures, manage suppliers, analyze data, and support audits while training technicians and collaborating across sites to improve efficiency and product

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 5 years in calibration/metrology/quality engineering, aerospace preferred.
• Knowledge of AS9100, ISO 17025, ANSI/NCSL Z540 and metrology standards.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and improve calibration program to meet standards and requirements.
• Schedule and perform calibrations to ensure equipment compliance and uptime.
• Document calibration activities meeting QMS requirements.
• Develop calibration procedures for aerospace MTE with AS9100/ISO 17025 compliance.
• Manage suppliers including pricing, contracts, and vendor performance.
• Analyze calibration data, identify trends, and drive improvements.
• Lead investigations into failures and nonconformances with corrective actions.
• Collaborate with departments to evaluate new calibration equipment and practices.
• Ensure timely renting/leasing of equipment to control downtime and costs.
• Support internal/external audits with records and expertise.
• Train technicians on proper calibration techniques.

We are seeking a detail-oriented Calibration Engineer to join our Quality Engineering Team at CesiumAstro. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and reliability of measurement and test equipment (M&TE) used in aerospace manufacturing and testing. You will develop, implement, and maintain calibration processes that comply with industry regulations and quality standards, playing a key role in maintaining product integrity and regulatory compliance.

Job Duties And Responsibilities

• Maintain and continuously improve a calibration program that meets applicable industry standards, customer and internal requirements, and regulatory requirements.
• Schedule and perform calibrations to ensure equipment and instrument compliance and minimize production downtime.
• Maintain detailed records of calibration activities, ensuring accurate documentation in compliance with quality management system (QMS) requirements.
• Develop and execute calibration procedures for aerospace measurement and test equipment (M&TE), ensuring compliance with AS9100, ISO 17025, and other relevant industry standards.
• Manage suppliers and service providers including negotiating pricing and contracts to secure the best possible terms for equipment rental, purchase, and calibration services. Evaluate vendor performance and ensure quality standards are met.
• Analyze calibration data to identify trends, implement corrective actions, and optimize measurement processes.
• Lead investigations into calibration failures, out-of-tolerance conditions, and nonconformances, implementing corrective actions and improvements.
• Work closely with various departments and sites to evaluate and recommend new calibration equipment, software, and best practices to improve efficiency and reliability.
• Ensure timely and efficient renting or leasing of necessary equipment to avoid downtime, limit cost, and maintain productivity.
• Support audits (internal and external) by providing calibration records, procedures, and technical expertise.
• Train technicians and operators on proper calibration techniques and equipment handling.

Job Requirements And Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or a related field) or equivalent experience.
• 5 years of experience in calibration, metrology, or quality engineering, preferably in the aerospace or defense industry.
• Strong understanding of metrology principles, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and measurement uncertainty analysis.
• Familiarity with AS9100, ISO 17025, ANSI/NCSL Z540, and other relevant quality and calibration standards.
• Experience with asset management software, statistical analysis tools, and Microsoft Office.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills with a strong attention to detail.
• ASQ Certified Calibration Technician (CCT), Six Sigma Green Belt, or equivalent metrology certifications.

$94,000 - $112,000 a year
