General Definition:
- This is administrative work involving the scheduling of all Court proceedings. A position in this class independently prepares, carries out and takes definitive action regarding processes and functions that are an integral part of Court operations. A position in this class reports directly to a higher level Court operations position.
Typical Examples of Work:
- Schedules all court proceedings (i.e. trials, hearings, settlement conferences, pre-trial conferences, status conferences and arguments) for the judges.
- Prepares orders.
- Reviews individual cases to determine the proper Court proceedings for disposition.
- Reviews all motions and petitions filed to verify compliance with the Pennsylvania Rules of Civil or Criminal Procedure and the Lehigh County Local Rules.
- Fields questions from attorneys and the public as well as interacts on a daily basis with the judges and the Court Operations Officer.
- Performs related work as required.
Required Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities:
- Thorough knowledge of caseflow practices and procedures as found at the Court of Common Pleas level.
- Knowledge of the methods, techniques and operating procedures commonly used in Court scheduling work.
- Skill in establishing priorities, balancing competing interests and coordinating many schedules.
- Ability to communicate effectively with members of the judiciary and the bar, individuals from other Court and County offices and the general public.
- Ability to use computer applications in a judicial setting.
Acceptable Training & Experience:
- Education equivalent to completion of the twelfth school grade with some college courses in business, public administration or a closely related field.
- Two years of administrative experience in a legal, governmental or judicial organization.
- Any equivalent combination of acceptable training and experience which has provided the knowledge, skills and abilities cited above.
