Job summary

Konecranes in Livermore, CA is seeking an Inspector to perform compliance inspections and preventive maintenance of cranes and derricks, in accordance with California and industry standards. The Inspector will document findings, issue safety notifications, and coordinate with the Service Manager to keep schedules and ensure quality of service.

Qualifications

  • Education: Associate’s degree in Industrial Electrical/Mechanical Technology or related field, or equivalent vocational/technical training and experience is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum five years of related experience with cranes or derricks, including at least two years of field duties such as crane inspection, heavy equipment mechanic, shop foreman, operations supervision, rigging specialist, or engineering.
  • Other Requirements: Good driving record and valid driver’s license; willing to work off the ground.

Responsibilities

  • Perform compliance inspections and preventive maintenance of cranes and derricks in accordance with Title 8 of the California Code of Regulations.
  • Apply knowledge of sections 4884, et seq. of Title 8 and ANSI / SAE standards related to crane design and operation.
  • Maintain a schedule of monthly inspections and preventative maintenance; ensure completion or arrange alternatives.
  • Understand and work within the allowed hours, communicating any exceptions to supervisor immediately.
  • Inspect equipment per established guidelines, document findings, and make corrective recommendations. Provide written Safety Notification for any observed or known safety concerns.
  • Consult customers on repair and safety issues, discuss recommendations during visit reviews, and assist customers with improving safety and productivity.
  • Prepare proper electronic documentation and obtain customer signatures and acceptance.
  • Provide quotation support, including master data, component level information, field operative hours, required tools, and equipment.
  • Apply OSHA, ANSI, CMAA, HMI and other industry codes or regulations; maintain updated knowledge and keep the Inspector’s Course for on‑site reporting.
  • Complete inspection reports and other required documents in a professional, accurate and timely manner; review job with Service Manager.
  • Maintain regular communication with service office and Service Supervisor, coordinate work schedule, and perform service/repair work as needed.
  • Maintain company vehicles, uniforms, tools, and inventory; follow safety rules and procedures; participate in monthly safety meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

Education: Associate’s degree in Industrial Electrical/Mechanical Technology or related field, or equivalent vocational/technical training and experience is preferred.

Experience: Minimum five years of related experience with cranes or derricks, including at least two years of field duties such as crane inspection, heavy equipment mechanic, shop foreman, operations supervision, rigging specialist, or engineering. Education may substitute for experience at a ratio of two years of education for one year of experience, up to three years.

Other Requirements:

  • Good driving record and valid driver’s license; willing to work off the ground.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work varied overtime, be on-call as part of service rotation, travel out of town as needed.
  • Physical requirements: frequently lift up to 25 lbs.; lift 50 lbs. daily; lift 75 lbs. occasionally; lift 100 lbs. rarely. Climbing, balancing, stooping/crouching, overhead reaching, pushing, pulling, kneeling, crawling, exposure to heat, cold, noise, and heights; 90% indoors/10% outdoors.
Payrate

$38.00 – $48.00 per hour.
