ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The associate is responsible for the following functions, in addition to other duties as assigned:

1. Keeps bakery department well stocked and appealing to meet customer demand. Greets customers with a smile, makes suggestions, answers questions about products and cake preparation. Resolves customer concerns promptly and courteously. Takes customer orders over the phone or in person, determining preferences for size, flavor, and appearance. Creates finished decorated products in a timely manner.
2. Decorates cakes and bakery products using dyes, specific or custom designs. Uses various creams, frostings, and fillings with consistent results. Prepares icing for cakes and related items, adhering to company-approved recipes.
3. Trims and cuts cakes to required shapes and sizes. Applies icing between layers and on surfaces. Tints white icing to required colors.
4. Assists in filling and merchandising the bakery sales area, following production logs. Creates cakes, pastries, etc., for sale in the service case. Follows rotation and markdown policies to ensure quality and freshness. Helps maintain inventory levels through proper ordering and logging.
5. May assist with receiving, unloading, checking-in, breaking down, and storing deliveries, using a power jack or hand jack if trained. Training provided.
6. May assist with baling cardboard or related duties if trained. Training provided.
7. Responsible for maintaining sanitation in the department, following cleaning schedules and guidelines to ensure work areas, equipment, counters, and display cases are clean and meet health and OSHA standards. Properly disposes of trash.
8. Ensures smooth department and store operations by cooperating with co-workers and supervisors. Committed to continuous job performance improvement.
9. Uses all company-provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including cut-resistant gloves, safety cutters, and company-sponsored footwear.
10. May be called upon to assist in other departments as needed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position currently has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully, the associate must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with or without accommodations. The following are the required knowledge, skills, and abilities:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 1-2 years’ experience in decorating.
