Job summary

HOUCHENS FOOD GROUP, INC. is seeking a Cake Decorator in the Deli/Grocery department. This full-time role requires preparing and decorating cakes, ensuring quality and customer satisfaction, while maintaining sanitary conditions and inventory levels.

The position involves standing for long periods, working Sunday through Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and collaborating with the Deli Manager to meet service standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 6 months to 1 year related experience.
• Cake decorating certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and decorate cakes per customer specifications and standards.
• Prepare and decorate cake products while maintaining health and safety standards.
• Maintain adequate inventory of decorated cakes and display them attractively.
• Keep cake production area clean and sanitary, rotating stock as needed.
• Work as a team to ensure quality, service, cleanliness and value for customers.

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Reports To: Deli Manager

Grade/Level: High School or GED Amount of Travel Required: No travel required

Work Schedule: Positions Supervised: None

Sunday - Saturday

7:00 a.m.- 6:00p.m.

POSITION SUMMARY

• Assemble and prepare cakes (or ready to decorate cakes may be used), including decorating with icing, gel, drawings, decorating kits, air brush, edible images and letterings. Ensure all cakes meet standards of quality and excellence.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Prepare and decorate cake products according to customer specifications and all applicable standards and procedures.

Properly and safely operate and maintain cake equipment while following all health and safety standards.

Always maintain an adequate inventory of decorated cakes, including back-up cakes during holidays and other peak cake occasions.

Keep Display full at all times to the proper level with a variety of cakes attractively displayed.

Be pleasant and alert to customer needs.

Work as a team member to assure constant and consistent quality, service, cleanliness and value to each customer.

Clean work area, organize and stock needed items.

Stock and execute proper rotation of products.

Keep cake production area and equipment clean and sanitary throughput shift.

Inform immediate supervisor promptly of all problems or unusual matters of Significance.

Perform other related duties and responsibilities as requested by management staff.
