Job summary

Scottsdale Unified School District is seeking a part-time cafeteria worker to assist with food preparation, serving, and cashiering in a school cafeteria setting. The role requires basic cooking knowledge, cash handling, and strong customer service skills to support daily meal services.

Responsibilities include preparing and cooking foods, collecting money, stocking supplies, cleaning work areas, and ensuring food safety and inventory control.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED, and six months of food handling, service, preparation and/or cashiering experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
• Ability to obtain a Food Handler’s Card within 30 days of employment.
• Basic knowledge of cash handling and serving in a cafeteria setting.

Responsibilities

• Assists in preparing and cooking foods, which may include: paning frozen food; cupping fruit; washing and bagging fruits and vegetables; baking foods; chopping salad items; monitoring food temperatures; preparing sandwiches; removing hot items from ovens; and/or performing other related activities.
• Collects money for lunches, balances cash drawers, and assists with preparing daily cash reports.
• Serves and replenishes food supply.
• Cleans cafeteria and/or kitchen areas, including tables, trays, floors, ovens, refrigerators, and related areas.
• Prepares cafeteria for meals, including placing food in hot carts, rotating foods, and ensuring utensils and napkins are available.
• Assists with monitoring food inventory; performs counts of unused food following daily meal service.
• Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
