Job summary

Virginia Beach City Public Schools seeks a part-time cafeteria monitor to supervise students during lunch and help maintain a safe, orderly dining environment. You will assist students, hand out napkins and supplies, and support site staff during meal service hours.

Position is hourly and part-time with no benefits. Start date is immediate and end date is June 2027; hours are set by the site to support meal service.

Qualifications

• Must have ability to communicate effectively with students and staff.
• Ability to stand for extended periods during lunch supervision.

Responsibilities

• Monitor elementary students during lunch period.
• Maintain order in cafeteria and assist students as needed.
• Distribute napkins, straws and supplies.

Job description

The ideal monitor would have strong oral communication skills; and the capability for continuous standing. Duties would include but not limited to monitoring elementary students during their lunch period. Maintaining order in the cafeteria, handing out napkins, straws and assisting students as needed. This is a part time hourly position and does not include benefits.
