Job summary

Virginia Beach City Public Schools is seeking a part-time cafeteria monitor to supervise elementary students during lunch. The role requires maintaining orderly conduct, distributing napkins and straws, and assisting students as needed in a busy school cafeteria.

The position is hourly, with hours established by the site to support meal service; benefits are not included. Start date is August 2026, with end date June 2027, and reporting to the principal or designee.

The ideal monitor would have strong oral communication skills; and the capability for continuous standing. Duties would include but not limited to monitoring elementary students during their lunch period. Maintaining order in the cafeteria, handing out napkins, straws and assisting students as needed. This is a part time hourly position and does not include benefits.
