Haverhill Public Schools is seeking a Part-Time Cafeteria Helper at Silver Hill Elementary in Haverhill, MA. 3.75 hours per day, .47 FTE, with a starting date of immediate placement and potential to be appointed through civil service.

The position includes food preparation, serving, basic inventory, and sanitation duties under the supervision of the Lead and Food Service Director. Applicants should have a high school diploma and prior food service experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a High School Diploma is required.
• Experience in food service industry preferred.
• Position serves as assistant to the Lead; will assume duties when Lead unavailable.

Responsabilités

• Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment and utensils regularly.
• Prepare vegetables and other foods for cooking and assemble simple dishes.
• Make soups, sandwich fillings, salads, and simple desserts.
• Operate mixers, dishwashers, toasters, and other kitchen equipment.
• Clean tables and kitchen surfaces; collect and wash dishes and utensils.
• Receive and check deliveries; store foods properly in refrigerations and storeroom.
• Assist in inventories, cashiering, and keep simple records.

3.75 Hrs/day (.47 FTE)

Organizational Relationship

or Line of Authority:

• Reports to the Lead and Food Service Director

Statement of Duties:

• Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment and utensils regulary
• Performs tasks requiring an ordinary degree of skill in preparation and serving of food as well as other tasks required for the operation and sanitary maintenance of a food service facility or area.
• Prepares vegetables and other foods for cooking
• Makes soups and other simple hot foods, sandwich fillings, salad dressing, and simple desserts.
• Prepares sandwiches and salads.
• Operates electrical equipment such as mixers, potato peelers, slicing machines, dishwashers, and toasters.
• Cleans tables and other kitchen equipment.
• Collects and washes dishes, silver and cooling utensils, and puts them away.
• Sweeps floor, cleans counters and tables, and counter and kitchen equipment, such as food containers, trays, cooking ranges, garbage cans, and refrigerators.
• Receives and checks deliveries of food and other supplies.
• Stores foods properly in refrigerators and storeroom.
• Keeps stores in good order.
• Assists in the taking of inventories of supplies, cashiering, and keeps simple records

Qualifications:

• Minimum of a High School Diploma
• Demonstrated Aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.
• Experience in food service industry preferred
• This position is considered an assistant to the Lead. All applicants must realize this position is to resume responsibility when the Lead is not available.
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools may find appropriate and acceptable.
