Job summary

Eataly in Santa Clara, CA is seeking a Barista to craft specialty beverages, provide first-rate guest service, and maintain clean, efficient workstations across multiple counters. You will follow recipes, handle POS transactions, and contribute to a high-volume environment with attention to quality and allergens management.

The role requires enthusiasm for coffee and Italian cuisine, with 1+ year barista experience preferred and a flexible onsite schedule. High school diploma preferred.

Responsibilities

• Weighs, grinds or packs coffee beans per guest specifications.
• Operates the POS system accurately and handles cash responsibly.
• Cleans and sanitizes work areas following health guidelines.
• Works across QSR counters serving pastries, gelato, pizza and other offerings.
• Maintains composure during busy periods.
• Performs other duties as required.

Job Description

A Barista creates and serves specialty hot and cold beverages according to Eataly’s recipes and guests’ special requests. A Barista is knowledgeable about all coffee menu items, provides high-quality, fast-paced service and is able to work at multiple QSR counters performing various functions. Reports to the QSR General Manager and the QSR Assistant General Managers.

• Prepares and serves authentic Italian espresso, coffee and other café drinks at multiple counters
• Provides guests with exceptional service and product details, such as coffee blend or preparation description
• Sets up stations and replenishes displays neatly including separation of allergens (nuts, wheat, etc.)
• Ensures all items are dated and following First in First Out (FIFO) standards
• Weighs, grinds or packs coffee beans for guests according to their specifications
• Operates the Point of Sales (POS) system ensuring accuracy of cash drops and authenticity of bills
• Cleans and sanitizes work areas in accordance with supervising health agency of the area
• Works across all QSR counters serving pastry, gelato, pizza and other Italian delicacies
• Maintains a calm demeanor during periods of high volume
• Performs other duties as required or assigned

Qualifications

• 1+ year barista experience on a manual espresso machine preferred
• High school diploma preferred

Job Requirements

• Availability to work onsite with a flexible schedule often including early mornings, evenings and weekends
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Ability to exert well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours, including standing, walking, bending and squatting
• Ability to operate equipment such as manual espresso machine, ovens, drink blender, juicer and Point of Sale
• Dexterity for rapid and consistent espresso creation

Compensation: Pay rate starts from $18.70 - $19.50 an hour plus tips. We are looking for both full time (32 hours or more) or open to Part time (31 hours or less).
