Average Weekly Hours: 8-32 hours per week

Schedule: Campus Cafés are weekdays only (Monday-Friday) when classes are in session; Marion and Coralville are open 7 Days a Week

Available Hours: 10am-2pm; 12pm to 4pm

Pay: $15/hour

Purpose of Position

The Café Associate is responsible for processing customer orders efficiently and professionally while delivering an exceptional guest experience. This role includes preparing sandwiches, salads, and catering orders, while upholding The Eat Shop’s commitment to premium quality, consistency, and service.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Prepare a wide variety of standard and custom menu items according to The Eat Shop recipes and quality standards
• Ensure all food is prepared, handled, and stored in accordance with all food safety and health code requirements
• Safely operate and properly maintain all café equipment
• Monitor, organize, and restock self-serve items and product displays as needed
• Maintain a clean and welcoming environment by sanitizing tables, counters, and chairs
• Wash dishes and assist with restocking food and supplies throughout shifts
• Accurately and efficiently process customer orders in person and over the phone
• Open and close the café location as assigned
• Support team members and assist with additional duties as needed

Work Experience and Requirements

• One year of experience in a customer service environment
• Previous food handling experience not necessary
• Must be on time and dependable

Physical Requirements

• Frequent standing, walking, kneeling, bending and reaching overhead is required on a daily basis
• Able to stand for extended period of time
• Must be able to lift, move and carry up to 50 pounds

Language Skills

• Must be able to speak, read and write English
• Must be able to communicate to coworkers and customers in a clear, concise and professional manner
