Job summary

The Salvation Army North and Central Illinois Division is hiring an Addictions Counselor at Harbor Light Center in Illinois. The counselor provides individual, family, couples and group counseling, delivering substance abuse treatment per agency procedures to support clients and their families.

The role requires certification (CADC) or ability to obtain within 2 years, and typically a Bachelor's degree is preferred; two years' experience is desired.

Qualifications

• Certified in the State of Illinois as a CADC, or able to obtain the certification within 2 years of hire.
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• Two years of experience as a Counselor preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide substance abuse treatment services including individual, family, couples and group counseling.
• Within unit policies, provide intake and counseling as needed.
• Develop and update client treatment plans; prepare case summaries and discharge plans.
• Network with other Salvation Army programs and outside agencies for quality options.
• Participate in the multidisciplinary team approach and milieu therapy program.
• Attend staff meetings and contribute to unit committees.
• Maintain records and prepare required reports.
• Work shifts as assigned and adapt to scheduling changes.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
