Job summary

MacKay is seeking a CAD Technician in Federal Way, WA to create, update, and maintain engineering drawings, incorporating redlines and field markups. The role requires working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D to support engineers, with duties ranging from layout and drafting to maintaining project data and records.

The ideal candidate has an Associate’s Degree or technical certification and at least 2 years of relevant experience, strong communication, and proficient Microsoft Office skills.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree or technical certification in a relevant field such as engineering, architectural, surveying or construction management
  • Minimum 2+ years combined school and/or work experience
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D
  • Ability to perform civil engineering drafting with direction of Project Managers
  • Ability to take high-quality notes and organize information
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent computer, writing, communication and customer service skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel

Responsibilities

  • Under general supervision, assists the engineering team in the preparation of engineering drawings/designs or supporting data for projects.
  • Apply survey information and reduce field notes to layout and draft designs and drawings for engineering and planning projects.
  • Review and interpret engineering plans, and conduct field checks to verify compliance with jurisdictional codes and ensure engineering standards are met.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate engineering records in support of licensed staff.
  • Develop knowledge of federal, state, and local rules, laws, and regulations regarding civil engineering.
  • Perform specialist roles such as utilizing Auto CAD and other software to produce a variety of plans such as residential, commercial, and grading; or performing civil engineering drafting work.
  • Compile a variety of rough technical data and prepare statistical and narrative reports from field studies in support of project activities.
  • Provide information to coworkers, clients, public, regulatory employees, and other agencies, peers and managers routinely using sound judgment to elevate or gain additional information before responding to issues, concerns or questions outside scope of education or job experience or expectations.

We are seeking a CAD Technician to join the team in Federal Way, Washington.

As a CAD Technician, you’ll be responsible for creating, updating, and maintaining engineering drawings, incorporating redlines and field markups into drawings, and ensuring the completeness and accuracy of all data. The CAD Technician will have working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D software.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ability to perform civil engineering drafting, such as site layout, grading, erosion control, road profiles, utility plans, etc. with direction of Project Managers
  • Ability to take high-quality notes and organize information
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent computer, writing, communication and customer service skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel

Compensation & Benefits

US Pay Range $30—$40 USD

  • Full-time employees receive a well-rounded benefit package including access to our company-sponsored Medical (including an HSA High Deductible option), Dental, Vision, FSA, and Supplemental Life Insurance plans.
  • We also offer 100% company-paid Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, and Long-Term Disability coverage.
  • Employees are eligible to participate in our company’s 401(k) plan with up to a 4% match.
  • Additionally, employees receive paid vacation and sick time, 11 paid holidays, and are able to participate in employee ownership options.
