Job description

Our client, a well-established manufacturer of highly engineered products for the aerospace, defense, and industrial markets, is seeking a CAD Systems Administrator to join their engineering team in Southampton, PA.

In this role, you'll take ownership of the company's CAD, PDM, and engineering data systems, managing Autodesk Inventor, Vault, CAD standards, and process improvement initiatives. A major focus will be cleaning, organizing, and standardizing decades of legacy engineering data, building Autodesk Inventor Content Center into a reliable source for engineering parts and components, and developing processes to maintain accurate, consistent data going forward. You'll play a key role in supporting the company's transition to a new ERP system and integrating engineering data with the new platform.

You'll work closely with engineering and cross-functional teams to improve CAD and data workflows, develop automation, support users, and identify opportunities to make engineering processes more efficient. You'll also assist with 2D and 3D CAD modeling, assemblies, drawings, and standard components as needed.

This role is well suited for someone who enjoys CAD, problem-solving, technology, data, and process improvement. Previous CAD systems administration experience is valuable, but early-career candidates with strong Autodesk Inventor skills and hands-on technical, CAD, academic, or project experience are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the modernization and migration of legacy engineering CAD, PDM, and ERP data, including data cleanup, validation, organization, and standardization
  • Review engineering part databases and exported data to identify duplicate parts, outdated records, incorrect classifications, inconsistent metadata, and other data quality issues
  • Prepare and maintain Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD part databases, including creating, validating, and consolidating parts and ensuring assemblies and metadata are properly structured
  • Establish and maintain Autodesk Inventor Content Center and standard component libraries as a reliable source for engineering parts and components
  • Serve as a key resource for Autodesk Inventor, Vault Professional, and engineering data management, supporting users and maintaining CAD workflows and standards
  • Identify inefficient or repetitive workflows and develop tools, scripts, and automation using Python, VBA, SQL, PowerShell, or similar technologies
  • Develop and maintain processes, standards, naming conventions, metadata requirements, and documentation for engineering data and CAD systems
  • Support the transition to the company's new ERP system and ongoing integration between engineering data and ERP systems
  • Collaborate with engineering and cross-functional teams to identify issues, improve workflows, and implement practical solutions
  • Support user training and documentation for CAD systems, engineering data, and related workflows
  • Assist with 2D and 3D CAD modeling, assemblies, drawings, standard components, and engineering documentation as needed

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience with Autodesk Inventor or a similar 3D mechanical CAD platform
  • Experience with Autodesk Vault, AutoCAD, engineering data management, or standard component libraries is a plus
  • Demonstrated programming or automation ability using Python, VBA, SQL, PowerShell, or similar languages/tools
  • Understanding of mechanical parts, components, assemblies, and engineering drawings
  • Experience working with engineering databases, part libraries, data cleanup, documentation, or similar structured data
  • Understanding of how components are designed, manufactured, assembled, and sourced
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work collaboratively with engineers and other departments
  • Experience with manufacturing, machining, fabrication, GD&T, or ERP systems is a plus
