Job summary

American Fabricators | AFI in Lebanon, TN produces precision components and assemblies. The CNC Programmer/Operator converts customer drawings into the programs and instructions used by Robotics, Lasers, Turrets and Press brakes to manufacture parts.

You will use CAD software and the manufacturer's programming tools to generate programs, interpret drawings, and support Sales, Estimating and Production with tooling design, process improvements, and cost-benefit analyses.

Qualifications

• 2+ years CAD programming experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
• SolidWorks experience preferred.
• Experience with automation equipment preferred.
• Skilled in interpreting technical drawings and blueprints.

Responsibilities

• Convert customer geometry or drawings into CNC programs and work instructions.
• Use CAD software and manufacturer’s programming software to create programs and work instructions.
• Interpret orthographic projection, GD&T, and customer drawings to generate programs.
• Support Sales and Estimating with technical details and process capabilities.
• Assist Production with tooling, fixtures, and alternate production methods when needed.
• Provide input on efficiency improvements and cost/benefit analyses for new tooling/applications.
• Maintain a thorough understanding of equipment used for processing.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Description

Job Summary

The CNC Programmer/Operator is responsible for converting customer generated geometry or drawings into the files required to produce parts. Utilizes advanced software applications to generate programs and work instructions for Robotics, Material Handling Systems, CNC Turrets, Lasers, and Press Brakes. Troubleshoots these processes as needed.

Use industry standard CAD software and equipment manufacturer’s programming software to create programs and work instructions.

Interpret third and first angle orthographic projection, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, and customer drawings and specifications, using CAD software to create programs and work instructions.

Support Sales and Estimating groups with technical details and process capabilities.

Support Production with the design of tooling, fixtures, and alternate production methods when needed.

Provide input on efficiency improvements and cost versus benefit analysis of new tooling/ applications considerations.

Maintain a thorough understanding of the equipment used for processing.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

2+ years practical CAD programming experience in an industrial manufacturing environment preferred.

SolidWorks experience is preferred.

Previous experience with automation equipment is preferred.

Skilled in interpreting technical drawings and blueprints.

Must be self-motivated and have strong attention to detail.

Strong problem-solving abilities in a manufacturing environment.

The ability to work independently and closely follow directions is essential.
