Job summary

Veolia is seeking a CAD Engineer to join the Technical Direction Water Engineering Team. You will translate concepts into CAD drawings, produce BOMs, and ensure timely, quality tender documents for water and wastewater projects.

The role involves BIM collaboration, CDE data management, and LiDAR-enabled CAD work, with 3D rendering for bids. Hybrid work from Veolia regional offices in the UK is offered.

Qualifications

• 2D and 3D CAD experience
• Experience with P&ID and layout drawings in the UK water/wastewater sector
• Knowledge of modelling water/wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations, and MEP systems
• Experience designing above-ground and below-ground water assets
• LiDAR data usage in CAD models
• Engineering degree or equivalent (Degree/HNC/HND)
• Knowledge of CDM Regulations and safe design principles
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit (and related CAD software)
• GIS software knowledge and geospatial data integration with CAD
• Familiarity with BIM processes and ISO 19650
• Experience with Common Data Environments (Viewpoint, BIM360/ACC, ProjectWise)
• Asset data lifecycle understanding and AIR handover familiarity
• Experience with LiDAR equipment
• Understanding of UK water company specs (WIMES, Sewers for Adoption) and related standards
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritise workload

Responsibilities

• Translate and develop conceptual designs into CAD drawings (GA, planning, 3D layouts, SLDs, PFD/P&ID) for water and wastewater infra using AutoCAD/Revit
• Produce BOM listings for specifications, calculations and component selection
• Ensure tender documents meet project timescales and quality standards
• Collaborate with project teams to create, update and manage BIM models
• Utilise a Common Data Environment (CDE) for data management and collaboration
• Support engineering team during installation/construction phases
• Produce installation specifications and 2D/3D drawings for assets
• Create 3D renders for bid documentation
• Generate and work with LiDAR scans in CAD
• Liaise with Mechanical & Electrical Design Engineers on detailed design
• Assist in development stage ensuring documents meet timescales and quality

What you'll be doing;

• Translate and develop conceptual designs into CAD drawings, including: GA's, Planning Drawings, 3D arrangements, Layout drawings, Setting out drawings, SLD’s, PFD and P&ID for water and wastewater treatment infrastructure using AutoCAD/Revit & other relevant CAD software.

• Produce BOM listings to enable specifications, calculations and component selection to be undertaken by others.

• Take responsibility for ensuring that conceptual design and tender preparation documents are provided to meet the project timescales and necessary quality standards.

• Collaborate with Project teams to create, update & manage BIM Models in accordance with project requirements & industry standards.

• Utilise a Common Data Environment (CDE) to ensure accurate data management, version control & efficient project collaboration.

• Work in the Engineering Team to provide both consultative design support and in some instances supporting the installation and construction phase of water and wastewater infrastructure projects.

• To produce project specific installation specifications in order to obtain competitive installation quotations from local M&E contractors. This may include the production of appropriate 2D and/or 3D drawings (Layouts, General Arrangements, planning and piping drawings) for water treatment assets and associated pipework systems.

• Create 3D renders for use in bid documentation.

• Generate, import & work with LiDAR scans in CAD using Trimble X9 Scanner

• Liaise with Mechanical & Electrical Design Engineers in identifying the project requirements and on the development of the detailed design for water and wastewater schemes.

• Support and assist in the development stage of a project taking responsibility for ensuring that conceptual design and tender preparation documents are provided in accordance with required timescales and quality standards.

What we're looking for;

• Previous CAD experience 2D & 3D.

• Experience with creating P&ID & layout drawings, ideally within the UK water/wastewater sector.

• Experience working in the UK Water Industry with knowledge of modelling water/wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations, and associated mechanical, electrical, and piping systems (MEP).

• Experience in producing designs for both above-ground (non-infrastructure) and below-ground (infrastructure) water assets, such as treatment works, pumping stations, and pipeline networks.

• Experience using LiDAR data within CAD models.

• Relevant engineering qualification, i.e. Degree, HNC/ HND or equivalent.

• Knowledge of CDM (Construction (Design and Management) Regulations) and applying the principles of designing for safety.

• Proficient in using AutoCAD/Revit & other relevant CAD Software (e.g., AutoCAD Plant 3D, Civil 3D).

• Experience with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) and the integration of geospatial data with CAD models is desirable.

• Knowledge of BIM processes & standards (ISO 19650).

• Experience with Common Data Environments (e.g Viewpoint, BIM360/ACC or Projectwise).

• Understanding of the asset data lifecycle and experience in preparing models and drawings for digital handover that meet client asset information requirements (AIR).

• Experience using LiDAR equipment

• Familiarity with UK water company specifications and standards (e.g., WIMES, Sewers for Adoption) would be highly advantageous.

• Strong communication skill & ability to work effectively in a team environment.

• Ability to manage multiple projects & prioritise workload.

• Able to adapt to new technologies & software as required.
