Astranis is seeking a CAD Engineer/Librarian Intern for Summer 2027 in California. You will model and draw spacecraft components, maintain the design library, and contribute to data infrastructure. This internship offers hands-on experience on hardware/software that can lead to full-time opportunities.

The role targets students enrolled in college or university with a four-year B.S. or working toward an MS in mechanical, aerospace, or related fields. U.S. citizenship or equivalent is required.

Qualifications

• Hold a four-year B.S. degree or currently pursuing a MS in either mechanical, aerospace, or an equivalent technical degree like physics, applied math, or industrial design
• Has a passion for hardware development, including working in a fast-paced environment with hands-on development
• Experience with SolidWorks
• Experience with GD&T and engineering drawings

CAD Engineer/Librarian Intern (Summer 2027)

As an Intern, you will have an amazing opportunity to work on hard problems — we pride ourselves on giving everyone at Astranis a chance to do meaningful work on complex projects, no matter their seniority. Many past interns have designed and tested hardware/software that have gone to space, and many of them are now full-time employees at Astranis.

Internships at Astranis typically last for twelve weeks, and are hourly roles designed for individuals who are enrolled at a college or university. If you have already graduated from a four-year university, please apply to be an Associate Engineer.

Role

Requirements

• Experience with GD+T and engineering drawings

Bonus

• Experience with design of complex assemblies and components
• Experience in the design of spaceflight components and/or vacuum compatible systems
• Experience with surface modeling

The base pay for this position is $29.00 per hour.

Base Hourly Pay

$29—$29 USD
