Job summary

Anduril Industries in Irvine, CA is seeking a CAD Engineer to join the Sentry Hardware Engineering Team. You will help define drawing standards, lead the creation of drawing packages, and elevate legacy drawings to support rapid production and sustainment.

The role collaborates with 20 Mechanical Engineers and requires ensuring documentation meets internal and government standards while mentoring junior engineers in CAD best practices.

Qualifications

• 3D CAD proficiency and ability to understand and apply GD&T to create high quality engineering drawings.
• 5+ years of computer aided design experience in a professional setting for either defense or consumer product designs.
• Associates Degree in Computer Design, CAD, Graphics, or a related field.
• Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance

Responsibilities

• Own the quality of drawings and CAD files across the Sentry Mechanical Engineering team.
• Coordinate across Anduril internal departments to ensure CAD designs and released documentation meet both internal and government standards
• Mentor junior engineers on drawing and CAD process to ensure they meet the engineering standards and best practices.
• Work closely with Sustainment, Manufacturing Engineering, and Configuration Management to release and update both legacy and new product design files.

ABOUT THE TEAM

Anduril’s Air and Ground Deterrence (AGD) Division develops integrated robotic systems designed to provide multi-domain situational awareness and force protection across land, sea, and air. From detection to tracking, identification, deterrence, and defeat, our family of networked sensors and effectors enables our customers to rapidly detect and identify potential threats. close the kill chain against a broad range of Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) threats.
Working across product, engineering, sales, logistics, operations, and mission success, the multidisciplinary Sentry Hardware team within AGD serves as the key system integrator of the Anduril Sentry Family of Systems (FoS). In particular, the Sentry Hardware Engineering Team drives end-to-end development, from architecture and ruggedized hardware design to verification, integration, and test, ensuring scalable, production and mission-ready solutions that meet the performance, reliability, and survivability demands of the U.S. Military and other key stakeholders.

ABOUT THE JOB

The Sentry Engineering team builds hardware products and systems that leverage artificial intelligence to provide highly accurate, persistent autonomous awareness across land, sea and air. With an AI-enabled edge processing and a variety of radars and sensors with continuous 360 pan / tilt capability, Sentry can autonomously identify, detect, and track objects of interest to bring increased awareness to borders, military bases, oil and gas pipelines, airports and other critical infrastructure.
We are looking for a CAD Engineer to join our rapidly growing team in Irvine, CA. This role will support rapidly developed, ruggedized product introduction in addition to providing critical support; scaling legacy design concepts to full-rate production. You will assist a team of approximately 20 Mechanical Engineers to define consistent drawing standards, take lead on drawing package creation, and work with sustainment and quality engineering to improve the quality and clarity of legacy drawings, CAD files, and other relevant documentation. The ideal candidate will work closely with the three Sentry Mechanical Engineering leads to define drawing standards, educate junior engineers, and ultimately increase the quality of engineering documentation across the team.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Own the quality of drawings and CAD files across the Sentry Mechanical Engineering team.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 3D CAD proficiency (any platform) and ability to understand and apply GD&T to create high quality engineering drawings.
• 5+ years of computer aided design experience in a professional setting for either defense or consumer product designs.
• Associates Degree in Computer Design, CAD, Graphics, or a related field.
• Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Extensive experience in NX/Teamcenter.
• Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Experience with manufacturing configuration management and revision control in complex production assemblies.
• Experience developing ruggedized electromechanical assemblies from concept to low-rate production for automotive, space, or military applications.
• Experience with production processes, including machining, sheet metal, injection molding, welding, wire harnessing and 3D printing to inform design for manufacturability.

US Salary Range: $132,000 – $175,000 USD

The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations.
