Job summary

Velo3D in Fremont, CA is seeking a CAD Drafter/Engineer to support electrical assemblies and harnesses, using AutoCAD, Visio, and SolidWorks PDM Pro. You will collaborate with engineering teams to create drawings, manage revisions, and prepare ECOs.

This contract role requires a two-year technical degree and at least four years of experience in electrical drawing creation, BOMs, and PLM data management. The workload includes drafting for manufacturing, executing design changes, and process

Qualifications

  • Two-year technical degree.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience creating drawings for electrical parts, electrical assemblies, electrical cable assemblies, schematics, and interconnect diagrams.
  • Experience with PLM CAD data management (Propel).
  • Experience in creating electrical assembly drawings and drawing BOMs.
  • Experience withdrawing design reviews and check-ins through ECO process.
  • Experience with instruction creation.
  • General understanding of GD&T and quality detail drawing documentation.
  • Familiarity with fabricated components, sheet metal, and machined parts and tolerances.
  • Knowledge of finishing processes, plating, heat treatment, paint/powder coating.
  • Excellent time management skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Demonstrated analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience as an independent contributor and as a team member.

Responsibilities

  • Provide CAD design/drafting support using AutoCAD and Visio.
  • Provide and maintain revision control using SolidWorks PDM Pro and Propel PLM.
  • Work with teams to identify drafting/design support needs and schedule workload.
  • Identify scope of design/drafting support and estimate time to complete activities.
  • Support Engineering with creation and submission of ECOs.
  • Design static aids and dynamic fixtures from rough sketches and specs.
  • Assist in creating engineering BOMs on drawings and in ERP systems.
  • Assist in lifecycle changes and production release of drawings via ECOs.
  • Provide electrical engineering support for resolution of field and manufacturing issues via drawing changes.
  • Initiate and participate in process improvement activities as directed by supervisor.
  • Participate in department projects and company initiatives.

Job description

Work Location: Fremont, CA

Duration: Contract (6mo.) with the possibility of extension or conversion

Responsibilities
  • Provide CAD design/drafting support as needed using AutoCAD and Visio.

  • Provide and maintain revision control using SolidWorks PDM Pro and Propel PLM.

  • Work with various teams toidentifydrafting/design support needs and schedule workload based on priorities set by management.

  • Identifythescope of design/drafting support needs requested by engineering teams.Estimate time requiredto complete support activities.

  • Support Engineering with creation and submission of ECOs.

  • Work from rough sketches and specifications created by engineers to design static aids and dynamic fixtures used in testing and manufacturing ofproducts.

  • Assistin creating engineering BOMs on drawings and inERP systems.

  • Assistin lifecycle changes and production release of drawings via ECOs.

  • Provideelectrical engineering support for resolution of field and manufacturing issues via drawing changes.

Requirements
  • Two-yeartechnical degree.

  • Minimum of4years of experience in creating drawings for electrical parts,electricalassemblies,electricalcable assemblies,schematics, and interconnect diagrams.

  • Experience with PLM CAD data management (Velo3D is currently usingPropel).

  • Experience in creating electrical assembly drawings and drawing BOMs.

  • Experience withdrawingdesignreviewsandcheck-insthroughECOprocess.

  • Experiencewithinstruction creation.

  • General understanding of GD&T and quality detail drawing documentation.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of GD&T and the use of CAD tools to create/refine designs and drawings for assemblies and custompanels, cables, and schematics.

  • Familiarity with fabricated components, sheet metal, and machined parts is a must. Understanding of dimensional tolerance capabilities of process such as injection molding, castings, machine parts, and sheet metal components.

  • Knowledge of component finishing processes, plating, heat treatment, paint/powder coating

  • Excellent time management skills with attention to detail

  • Ability to work independently with a high degree of accuracy

  • Demonstrated analytical, organizational, and communication skills

  • Ability to solve problems, multi-task,and work in fast paced environment

  • Experience working as an independent contributor and as a member of the team

$34 - $52 an hour

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The starting base hourly rate for this full-time position is between $34.00 and $50.00 per hour. This hourly rate range reflects the minimum and maximum target for this position in the U.S. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as work experience, job-related skills, related education, work location, and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. In addition to a competitive base salary and a comprehensive benefits package, this position may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and equity program, as applicable.
