Job summary

Leidos is seeking a CAD Drafter II for our Orlando, FL office to support power delivery projects. You will draft accurate drawing packages using AutoCAD and MicroStation and collaborate with engineers and other drafters across the region.

The role emphasizes attention to detail, proficiency with vector/raster files, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Training opportunities and mentorship are available to develop your CAD skills and career growth.

Qualifications

• Associate degree (or equivalent) in Drafting and Design or related field.
• 2+ years drafting with AutoCAD or MicroStation.
• Strong drafting knowledge and attention to detail.
• Proficient in Windows and MS Office.
• Able to follow engineer markups and produce accurate drawings.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare drawings for Protection & Control, SCADA, and related systems.
• Produce SLDs, schematics, layouts, wiring diagrams, and elevations.
• Coordinate CAD work across Leidos offices to balance workload and schedules.

Description

We are in search of a CAD Drafter II to join our dynamic organization supporting our Orlando, FL office. As a core team member of our Power Delivery Solutions Division, you will be interacting with an established group of engineers, designers and drafters, playing a valuable part in executing drafting of accurate drawing packages for utility power delivery projects, using MicroStation and AutoCAD.

In this role qualified individuals will be expected to:

• Complete drafting assignments on Protection & Control, SCADA, Communications drawings including but not limited to Single Line Diagrams, Schematics, SCADA and Communication drawings, Control Building Layouts and Elevations, Panel Front Views and Cabinet Layouts, Wiring Diagrams, Interconnection Drawings, AC/DC Station Service drawings and other miscellaneous drawings as required by project scope.
• Complete drafting assignments on Physical Electrical drawings including but not limited to General Arrangement, Electrical Plans, Electrical Elevations, Sections and Details, Foundation Plans and Details, Structural Details, Grounding Plan and Details, Raceway Plan and Details, Equipment Vendor Files and other drawings as required by project scope.
• Provide cross-office CAD production support as needed, coordinating with CAD leads across Leidos offices to manage workload demands while maintaining quality and schedule commitments.

Qualifications:

• Associate of Applied Science in Drafting and Design degree from an accredited institution. High school diploma/Drafting certificate with additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• 2+ years of drafting and detailing experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation. Coursework/project experience will be considered.
• Knowledge of drafting principles, techniques and procedures.
• Proficiency with the manipulation of vector and raster drawing files in AutoCAD and MicroStation.
• Ability to create and/or modify drawings from engineer-provided markups with a high level of attention to details.
• Proficiency with Windows operating system environments.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
• Strong professional verbal and written communication skills within a team environment.
• Highly organized and efficient.
• Ability to perform tasks in a fast-paced engineering/production environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with utility doing substation drafting.
• Experience with file sharing, document management and collaboration tools such as ProjectWise, FTP, SharePoint, etc.
• Ability to understand and implement a wide range of client CAD standards.
• Experience with 3-D modelling in MicroStation, AutoCAD, Revit, Inventor, etc.
• Programing knowledge of VBA and/or AutoLisp.

Pay Range: Pay Range $40,300.00 - $72,850.00
