Description

VETERANS ARE ENCOURAGED TO APPLY

Lonestar Electrical Supply is seeking a CAD Drafter to join our team. The CAD Drafter will support engineering, manufacturing, and project execution by creating, maintaining, and controlling technical drawings and documentation for cable assemblies, control panels, industrial electrical systems, power distribution equipment, and related products. This role serves as a critical link between engineering, production, and project teams by translating specifications, design requirements, sketches, markups, and technical concepts into accurate, production-ready drawing packages.

Initially, this position will focus on drafting, documentation, and implementation of established designs, with opportunities to expand into design support, cross functional coordination, and continuous improvement initiatives as experience is gained. The ideal candidate will possess strong CAD drafting skills, a high level of attention to detail, and the ability to maintain accurate documentation in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Above all, we are looking for someone who embodies our commitment to MAKE IT HAPPEN.

Responsibilities:
  • Create, revise, and maintain production-ready electrical drawings and technical documentation, including schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, interconnection drawings, and related design packages based on engineering requirements, specifications, and project documentation.
  • Develop and maintain accurate drawing packages that support manufacturing, assembly, testing, installation, and customer submittal requirements.
  • Generate and maintain bills of material (BOMs), component lists, and supporting documentation, ensuring alignment with approved drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
  • Incorporate dimensions, wire identification, component callouts, terminal assignments, assembly notes, and other required manufacturing details into drawing packages.
  • Review drawings and documentation for accuracy, completeness, consistency, readability, and compliance with company standards and project requirements prior to release.
  • Verify part numbers, quantities, component specifications, and documentation accuracy before release.
  • Implement approved changes and drawing revisions while maintaining accurate revision history and documentation records.
  • Maintain organized electronic drawing files, technical records, document libraries, and project documentation in accordance with established document control practices.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to implement design requirements, approved changes, and technical specifications into drawing packages.
  • Work closely with manufacturing, project management, sales, and other stakeholders to clarify requirements, resolve documentation questions, and support project execution.
  • Provide drawing clarification and technical documentation support to manufacturing, testing, installation, and field personnel.
  • Communicate documentation updates and drawing revisions to affected stakeholders and ensure current versions are available for use.
  • Identify and help resolve drawing discrepancies, documentation issues, and process gaps that could impact quality, productivity, or project schedules.
  • Participate in drawing reviews, technical problem-solving, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance documentation quality and workflow efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain drawing templates, standard details, component libraries, and reusable documentation resources to support consistency and efficiency.
  • Recommend and support improvements to drafting standards, document control practices, workflow efficiency, and overall project execution.
  • Perform other related drafting, documentation, and technical support duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Associate degree, technical certification, or equivalent experience in drafting, engineering technology, electrical technology, or a related field.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, EPLAN, or similar CAD drafting software.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply engineering drawings, specifications, schematics, and technical documentation, with working knowledge of electrical systems, components, industrial controls, and panel construction practices.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to drawing accuracy, revision control, and documentation quality.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, revisions, and deadlines while maintaining organized records.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn ERP, document management, and engineering systems.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with engineering, manufacturing, project management, and other functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience drafting electrical assemblies, control panels, industrial equipment, or related manufactured products.
  • Experience creating and maintaining bills of material (BOMs) and technical documentation.
  • Knowledge of document control, revision management, and engineering change processes.
  • Experience in manufacturing, cable assemblies, panel fabrication, system integration, electrical distribution, or a related technical environment.
  • Familiarity with UL508A, NFPA, or other applicable industry standards.
  • Experience with ERP, MRP, or document management systems.
  • Familiarity with industrial controls, automation systems, motor controls, instrumentation, or power distribution equipment.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to routinely operate a computer and other office productivity equipment.
  • Ability to occasionally walk manufacturing and warehouse environments.
  • Lifting up to 25 lbs. may be required infrequently.
Benefits
