Job summary

Triple-S Steel is seeking a CAD Drafter to translate steel layouts into machine language for burn tables and tube laser. You will prepare detailed diagrams with dimensions and fastening methods and ensure timely completion.

The role requires CAD/CAM experience, interpretation of engineering drawings, and a willingness to learn tube laser programming, with a focus on accuracy and efficiency in production.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1–2 years of manufacturing or fabrication experience.
• Able to read and interpret structural steel drawings and blueprints.
• Experience with CAD/CAM software (AutoCAD, DraftSight, Primecut, or similar).
• Basic understanding of 3D modeling software.

Responsibilities

• Program CNC cutting operations for burn tables using CAD/CAM to optimize material usage.
• Interpret drawings and blueprints to create precise cutting programs.
• Maintain knowledge of plate processing and structural components in manufacturing.
• Develop, edit, and troubleshoot cutting programs using G-Codes and M-Codes.
• Prioritize programming tasks based on production schedules and deadlines.
• Collaborate with production to ensure programs run efficiently and parts meet quality standards.
• Assist with machine setup and provide shop floor support as needed.
• Learn and support tube laser programming and operation.
• Monitor program performance and adjust to improve cut quality and efficiency.
• Maintain records, nesting data, and production logs.

The CAD Drafter is responsible for understanding the layouts of steel designs and translating them into machinery language for the burn tables and tube laser. The ideal candidate will have experience preparing detailed working diagrams, including dimensions, fastening methods and other engineering information. They will also ensure all work is done on time.

pay rages $26.00 to $32.00 per hour

• Program and optimize CNC cutting operations for burn tables using CAD/CAM software to ensure efficient material usage and accurate part production.
• Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical documentation to create precise cutting programs.
• Maintain a strong understanding of manufacturing processes, material requirements, and production terminology related to plate processing and structural components.
• Develop, edit, and troubleshoot cutting programs utilizing G-Codes and M-Codes.
• Prioritize programming work based on production schedules, due dates, and on-time delivery requirements.
• Work closely with production personnel to ensure programs run efficiently and produce high-quality parts.
• Support shop floor operations when needed, including operating burn tables and assisting with machine setup and troubleshooting.
• Learn and develop proficiency in tube laser programming and operation to support expanding production capabilities.
• Monitor program performance and make adjustments to improve cut quality, material utilization, and production efficiency.
• Maintain records, program files, nesting data, and production logs as required.
