Job description

CAD Designer (Computer Aided Design Designer)

StraCon Services Group is seeking an experienced and motivated CAD Engineer to join our dynamic team, with remote work authorized. This role focuses on managing and validating engineering design data within our Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system, emphasizing review, configuration, and validation of existing CAD data packages (primarily PTC Creo), management of Bills of Material (BOMs), and ensuring data integrity within Siemens Teamcenter PLM. You will work extensively with supplier data, BOM structures, and Technical Data Packages (TDPs) in a multi-CAD environment, supporting data ingestion and validation processes. The information is processed through Siemens Teamcenter in the AWS Government Cloud Environment (GCE) for our Naval Air System Command (NAVAIR) customer.

This position supports a Major Unmanned Aircraft Program at Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) in Patuxent River, MD. Remote work is authorized. Core working hours are from 0830-1630 EST, Monday through Friday.

Essential Job Duties
  1. Review, interpret, and validate incoming supplier CAD data packages, primarily PTC Creo data.
  2. Work within a multi-CAD environment, handling data from PTC Creo, NX, CATIA, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and other platforms.
  3. Manage and configure complex BOMs using dedicated software and industry standards.
  4. Oversee data ingestion, validating data accuracy and completeness of TDPs.
  5. Collaborate with engineering teams and suppliers to ensure data integrity and resolve discrepancies.
  6. Support and manage Engineering Changes (EC) workflows within Teamcenter.
  7. Utilize Microsoft Access databases and develop/maintain Excel macros for data management tasks.
Required Qualifications
  • Experience with BOM creation, configuration, and management.
  • Proficiency in reviewing and interpreting CAD data, especially PTC Creo.
  • Experience in a multi-CAD environment and data exchange between CAD platforms.
  • Ability to quickly learn new software tools and versions; familiarity with multiple CAD systems is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Product Data Management (PDM) principles.
  • Experience with Microsoft Access and Excel macros.
  • Self-motivated, independent worker with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective collaborator in a dispersed team environment.

Experience Requirements
  • 3+ years in related duties.
  • Experience with PLM systems, preferably Teamcenter, Windchill, or Enovia.
  • Experience in aerospace industry with complex BOMs.
  • Background in OEM manufacturing, NCRs, MBOMs, ECPs, and Model-Based Design (MBD).
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and train others in CAD software use.
Education Requirements
  • Associates Degree in a relevant field plus 3 years of practical experience, or a High School Diploma with 6 years of relevant experience.
Security Requirements
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
