Job summary

DEKA Research & Development Corp. seeks a CAD Designer to collaborate with Mechanical and Electrical teams. You will support ECOs, PCB transfers, wiring harness work, and library maintenance while contributing to 3D CAD libraries and documentation. You will also create diagrams and tutorials to promote evolving CAD practices.

The role emphasizes attention to detail, cross-disciplinary learning, and strong communication as you manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of job-related work experience or equivalent technical experience.
• Associate degree (AS, AAS, or AET) preferred.
• Experience with SolidWorks and PDM practices preferred.
• Experience with ECO practices preferred.
• Interest in both Mechanical and Electrical disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Prepare Mechanical CAD for Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
• Prepare and maintain PCBs for transfer into Mechanical CAD.
• Prepare Wiring Harness and P&ID for transfer into Mechanical CAD.
• Prepare and deliver controlled PCB packages.
• Organize and maintain Mechanical CAD library components.
• Support 3D CAD for Electrical component libraries.
• Prepare fixture drawings for Medical Equipment.
• Apply illustrated label details to models and drawings.
• Work with multiple MCAD and ECAD systems across projects.
• Develop work instructions and video tutorials for evolving CAD practices.

As a CAD Designer at DEKA Research & Development Corp., you will partner with both Mechanical and Electrical Engineering teams to support the full spectrum of CAD Department activities. In this role, you will report to the CAD Manager.

You Will Make an Impact as a CAD Designer:

• Preparing Mechanical CAD for Engineering Change Orders (ECO's)
• Preparing and maintaining PCB's for transfer into Mechanical CAD.
• Preparing Wiring Harness and P&ID for transfer into Mechanical CAD.
• Preparing Controlled PCB package deliverables.
• Organizing and maintaining Mechanical CAD purchased part library components.
• Supporting 3D CAD for Electrical component libraries.
• Preparing Fixture drawings for Medical Equipment.
• Preparing and applying illustrated label details to models and drawings.
• Working with Multiple MCAD and ECAD systems across several projects.
• Developing work instructions and video tutorials for evolving CAD practices.

Skills you will need to be successful in this role:

• Experience Designing/Drafting with computer aided design software or ability to learn quickly.
• Minimum 2years of job-related work experience or equivalent technical experience.
• Strong desire to learn and diversify across both Mechanical and Electrical Disciplines.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling technical data and documentation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple projects effectively.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Experience with Microsoft Office and Adobe products.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with Solidworks.
• Experience with general PDM practices.
• Experience with general ECO practices.
• Associate degree (AS, AAS, or AET).

Nice to have:

• Experience with Creo, Windchill, Autodesk Inventor, Autodesk Vault.
• Experience with Altium Designer, A365, and Altiums Co/Designer product.
• Experience with Solidworks Electrical Schematic & 3D.
