Opportunity
The Enterprise Communications Services 3 (ECS3) program supports our intel customer across its CONUS & OCONUS operating locations. The focus includes design, transition, operations, and continual service improvement for tech modernization, tech refresh, customer LANs and unified communication services.
Responsibilities
- Installation and documentation of new and/or updated inside plant cable infrastructure.
- Follow DIA and commercial best practice procedures (BISCI, EIA/TIA) standards for cable racks, wiring and testing.
- Analyze, administer, and maintain telecommunications and network cabling infrastructure.
- Know standard copper 568-B Color code, 25 pair color code, and Fiber 12 strand Color Code.
- Handle service orders and repair activities related to Category 6 cabling, VoIP networks, and fiber optic cabling.
- Terminate and test cables and components, work with hand tools, power tools, powder actuated tools, and ladders.
- Communicate with supervisors, be computer literate, possess basic networking skills.
- Install, maintain, and repair voice and data communications cabling systems.
- Interpret service orders, circuit diagrams, floor plans and networking logic diagrams.
- Test, locate, install, and repair cabling for trouble calls; perform routine maintenance.
- Use Excel and Microsoft Word to input data, maintain and formalize cable records.
- Verify service by testing installed cabling, identifying, correcting, or escalating problems.
- Use network cabling test equipment including network testers, copper cable testers, OTDRs, and fiber power meters.
- Record testing information.
- Read network documents, label networking equipment and cables per diagrams; create as-is diagrams.
- Maintain current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned.
- Participate in special projects as required.
- Identify, track, and remove abandoned cable, keep cable neatly tied and bundled while maintaining safety standards.
- Walk long distances, lift materials up to 50 pounds, load/unload equipment, mount equipment into racks, and remove trash.
Qualifications
- High School/GED + 7 years of experience.
- Current IAT II (Security +).
