Job summary

FirstEnergy in Wall, NJ is seeking a skilled utility worker to perform high-tension construction and maintenance on energized conductors, structures, and equipment, including cable splicing. The estimated pay range for this role is $47.88-$59.85/hr.


This is a full-time, on-site position located in Wall, NJ.


Job Summary

Regularly and customarily performs the highest type of work on electric wires or cables and related equipment, overhead or underground, including cable splicing. This includes the following, together with other related and incidental work:


Responsibilities


  • Performs complicated construction and maintenance work on energized conductors, structures, and equipment, including high tension switching.

  • Perform all types of polyphase transformer installations, phasing and phase rotation on polyphase circuits, distribution and transmission switching and sectionalizing when required, trace and clear grounds and opens on series circuits.

  • Performs routine clerical work, including field and time reports, material requisitions, etc.

  • When work within this job classification is temporarily interrupted or delayed, employee may be assigned to other work within their occupational group. In emergency conditions, may be assigned other work which may be reasonable expected to perform with safety for themself and others.

  • Adhere to company\'s safety rules.

  • Frequent intra-company contacts of routine nature.

  • Extensive responsibility for plant and service.


Qualifications & Requirements

The following minimum qualifications must be met in order to obtain and retain this classification:



  • Ability to perform semi routine operations of considerable complexity and variety.

  • A minimum of 5 years related experience, or other pertinent and qualifying experience or related training.

  • Must exercise mature analytical ability and judgment.

  • Must be familiar with electrical and mechanical tagging rules.

  • High degree of skill in handling tools and materials required, perform distinctly complex and variable work regularly.

  • Class A CDL required.
