Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience creating/revising cable and wire-harness drawings and documentation.
  • Knowledge of harness construction, connectors, routing, labeling, and revision-controlled docs.
  • Familiarity with IPC/WHMA-A-620 requirements and acceptance criteria.
  • Strong written and verbal communication; able to collaborate across design, manufacturing, quality, and test.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and revise cable and wire-harness drawings, wire lists, pinouts, routing details, labels, and manufacturing docs.
  • Select and document wire, cable, connectors, terminals, backshells, protective materials, and hardware; prepare BOMs.
  • Apply IPC/WHMA-A-620 requirements to design docs and interpret with manufacturing/quality.
  • Coordinate interfaces with electrical design, panel/equipment integration, manufacturing, quality, purchasing, suppliers, and test stakeholders.
  • Support prototype and production builds by resolving fit, routing, termination, documentation, and config issues; manage design changes.
  • Support continuity and test activities by ensuring drawings and build records are current.

Position Summary:

Marvin Group is seeking a Cable Harness Designer to create clear, build-ready cable and wire-harness documentation for integrated electrical equipment. The role converts requirements and engineering direction into harness drawings, wire lists, connector and termination details, bills of material, and revision-controlled manufacturing packages while partnering with electrical design, manufacturing, quality, and test.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Develop and revise cable and wire-harness drawings, wire lists, pinouts, routing details, labels, and related manufacturing documentation.
  • Select and document wire, cable, connectors, terminals, backshells, protective materials, and hardware; prepare bills of material and drawing packages.
  • Apply applicable IPC/WHMA-A-620 workmanship and acceptance requirements to design documentation and support practical interpretation with manufacturing and quality teams.
  • Coordinate interfaces with electrical design, panel or equipment integration, manufacturing, quality, purchasing, suppliers, and test stakeholders.
  • Support prototype and production builds by resolving fit, routing, termination, documentation, and configuration issues; process controlled design changes.
  • Support continuity, point-to-point, and other planned harness test activities by ensuring drawings and build records are complete and current.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
  • 4+ years of demonstrated ability in creating and/or revising cable and wire-harness drawings, wire lists, pinouts, and building documentation for manufactured equipment
  • Working knowledge of cable and harness construction practices, connector and termination selection, routing, labeling, and revision-controlled documentation
  • Familiarity with IPC/WHMA-A-620 requirements and acceptance criteria for cable and wire-harness assemblies
  • Clear technical communication, close attention to detail, and practical collaboration across electrical design, manufacturing, quality, and test
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting aerospace, defense, industrial controls, power equipment, or other high-reliability cable and harness builds; exposure to Class 3 workmanship or acceptance criteria is preferred
