Job summary

Gulfstream is seeking a Cabinet Maker III at our GAC Appleton facility. The role fabricates complex cabinets and wood subassemblies for aircraft, interpreting drawings and specifications to ensure high quality results.

Strong attention to detail, teamwork, and familiarity with 3D models and power tools are essential. Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED and at least 3 years in cabinetmaking; aerospace experience and knowledge of Gulfstream inspection standards are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate complex high quality cabinets and wood-surfaced subassemblies for aircraft installations.

• Use stationary and hand tools and various woodworking techniques.
• Follow safety, 5S, and housekeeping policies and protect aircraft interiors.
• Mentor and assist teammates; lead projects when required.
• Coordinate with Lead and other backshops as needed.

Education and Experience Requirements

Position Purpose:

Under general supervision, fabricates the most complex cabinets and other wood-surfaced subassemblies for installation in aircraft. Assists lead by overseeing projects and providing guidance, assistance and training to co-workers.

Job Description

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:

1. Fabricates complex high quality furniture and other wood-surfaced subassemblies using stationary and hand held-tools. .
2. Interprets material specifications and design/engineering drawings to ensure finished product meets design and engineering requirements with a high level of quality and detail. Coordinates with supervision to ensure compliance with customer approved design samples.
3. Utilizes a variety of woodworking tools and techniques.
4. Complies with and champions safety, 5S, and housekeeping policies and ensures the protection of aircraft interiors. .
5. Works with lead and higher skilled technicians to develop and implement process improvements that increase safety, reduce, cost, cycle time, and man-hours using Lean Six-Sigma and other process improvement techniques.
6. Utilizes the material tracking system to create parts demand, track squawks and to sign-off work.

Additional Functions:

1. Accepts Lead responsibilities when required. Mentors and trains lesser skilled technicians. .
2. Oversees projects and coordinates with Lead to delegate tasks to assigned technicians. .
3. Conducts safety audits and assists team members in doing safety audits. .
4. Assists in maintaining shop equipment and associated JSAs. .
5. Coordinates with other backshops when necessary. .
6. Adapts to sudden schedule changes. .

Perform other duties as assigned.

Other Requirements:

1. Demonstrates excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
2. Able to climb ladders and stairs, work in small restricted areas, lift up to 40 pounds and work any shift.
3. Must be computer literate.
4. Advanced knowledge of cabinetmaking processes and products.
5. Possess a working knowledge of Gulfstream inspection and process specifications preferred.

This job requires one to be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
