Job summary

Gulfstream Aerospace in Appleton, WI is seeking an entry-level Cabinet Maker I to join the Fabrication and Veneer Shops. You will learn to fabricate aircraft cabinets and wood-surfaced subassemblies from design drawings, using laminates and veneers, while maintaining quality and safety standards.

This is a first shift position with multi-assembly exposure. Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, and experience in cabinetmaking or related trades is preferred; youth apprenticeship is

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; cabinetmaking experience preferred.
• Technical certificate in cabinetmaking or related training is a plus.
• Comfort with reading design drawings and working with laminates/veneers.

Responsibilities

• Learn and perform basic cabinet fabrication using engineering drawings.
• Prepare furniture with laminates, veneers, and cap strips.
• Track parts demands and sign off completed work.
• Follow safety and housekeeping policies; maintain tolerance standards.

Education and Experience Requirements

High School Diploma or GED required. Wood working, wood finishing or auto body & painting experience in a technical environment or completion of Technical Certificate in cabinet making preferred. and/or completion in current year youth apprenticeship program, in area of expertise.

Position Purpose:

Under direct supervision, learns and performs the basic skills and functions related to fabrication of aircraft cabinets and other wood-surfaced subassemblies using design and engineering drawings.

Job Description

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:

1. Learns entry-level technical skills and knowledge, regulatory requirements and tooling used in aircraft cabinetmaking. Continues to develop technical competency and problem solving abilities to allow progression to the technician level.
2. Using standard safety and operating procedures, design/engineering drawings, tools and other materials (laminates, veneers, cap strips), develops proficiency in the preparation and making of furniture. .
3. Utilizes the material tracking system to create parts demand, track squawks and to sign-off completed work.
4. Complies with all safety, 5S, and housekeeping policies, uses personal protective equipment; ensures aircraft interior is protected. Assists in the development and implementation of related initiatives. .

Perform other duties as assigned.

Other Requirements:

1. Able to climb ladders and stairs, work in small restricted areas, lift up to 40 pounds and work any shift.
2. Must be computer literate.

This job requires one to be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
