Job summary

Glenn Rieder, LLC in Wisconsin manufactures architectural millwork and custom wood products. This position supports operations under the Rough Mill Supervisor, Shop Foreman, and Plant Manager, performing set-up, operation, and maintenance of tools and machines while following shop drawings to meet client specifications.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years in a millwork or carpentry shop, familiarity with AWI standards, and the ability to work 40–50+ hours/week.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED. Some additional training at technical school is preferred.
• Minimum of 3-5 years previous experience in a millwork shop, carpentry shop, and/or working knowledge of woodworking
• Radius Millwork experience is preferred

Responsibilities

• Completing duties assigned by Rough Mill Supervisor, Lead Person, Shop Foreman, or Plant Manager with efficient use of time, materials, and equipment
• Setting up, operating, and maintaining tools and machines including hand routers, saws, stationary equipment, and power hand tools
• Reading and comprehending shop drawings
• Working 40 to 50+ hour work weeks
• Observing safety regulations (OSHA and company)
• Keeping department clean and organized
• Maintaining or reducing labor/material costs for projects
• Consulting with engineering and Production Manager on construction techniques
• Fabricating custom wood products per drawings from drafting
• Familiarity with AWI industry standards
• Demonstrating knowledge of wood species/grades, boards, hardware, laminates, plastics, fasteners, adhesives
• Working independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team
• Training lesser skilled employees as directed

ESSENTIAL DUTIES And RESPONSIBILITIES

• Completing all duties assigned by Rough Mill Supervisor, Lead Person, Shop Foreman, or Plant Manager while making the most efficient use of time, raw materials, and equipment
• Setting up, operating, and maintaining all relevant tools and machines, including hand routers, saws, and stationary equipment, and all power hand tools
• Reading and comprehending shop drawings
• Working 40 to 50+ hour work weeks
• Obeying all company, OSHA, and other state and federal agencies’ safety regulations
• Keeping department clean and organized
• Maintaining or reducing estimated labor/material costs for each project
• Consulting with engineering and Production Manager on construction techniques
• Fabricating custom wood products in accordance with drawings provided by drafting department
• Familiarity with architectural millwork products and AWI industry standards
• Demonstrating knowledge of:
• Wood species and grades
• Particle boards
• Plywoods
• Hardware
• Laminates
• Plastics
• Fasteners
• Adhesives
• Working individually with little supervision
• Working as a team and communicating effectively with management and all employees
