Job summary

Airbus Americas, Inc. in Mobile, Alabama is seeking a Part-time Cabin Engineer to develop solutions for a range of engineering problems and to modernize processes through digitalization and automation.

Responsibilities

  • Revise models and designs based on manufacturing and/or design requirements.
  • Monitor and manage HoV customization milestones according to the FCO process.
  • Interface as needed with stress engineers, DMU, drafters, designers, suppliers and technical management personnel to assure manufacturability of designs.
  • Resolve technical problems by all possible means, including applying data‑driven methodologies and developing scripted solutions for recurrent issues.
  • Provide input to the design engineering elements of the integrated project plan to ensure it is technically robust.
  • Provide technical input to engineering project teams, including insights gained from data analysis and process automation initiatives.
  • Prepare engineering models and documents that meet compliance with engineering principles, regulatory requirements, company standards and customer contract requirements and apply those requirements.

Job Description

The Part‑time Cabin Engineer will develop solutions to a variety of simple to complex engineering problems requiring judgment and ingenuity. This role is a key driver for modernizing our processes by applying digitalization and automation techniques to improve efficiency, quality, and data‑driven decision‑making. The cabin engineer works with internal customers and the manufacturer for the coordination of the 2D/3D Design.

Your working environment

The Engineering Center in Mobile, Alabama houses hundreds of Airbus engineers who assist in the design and development of Airbus commercial aircraft cabins, including aftermarket upgrades, reconfigurations and services of all product types across the globe.

Your challenges

Physical Requirements
  • Onsite or remote: Onsite 100%
  • Vision: able to see and read computer screens and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings.
  • Hearing: able to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on the production floor including safety warnings or alarms.
  • Speaking: able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications.
  • Equipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts.
  • Carrying: able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.
  • Lifting: able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.
  • Pushing / Pulling: able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools.
  • Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on the computer.
  • Squatting / Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving.
  • Standing: able to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor.
  • Travel: able to travel independently and at short notice.
  • Walking (include routine walking such as to a shared printer to retrieve documents): able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces.
  • Personal Protective Equipment required: Required PPE includes, but is not limited to, Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Respirators/Masks, and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site
This position is a temporary (contract) position with no specific time period but could be extended or shortened as needed. Contractors are employed by a 3rd party vendor and placed on assignment to Airbus.
