Job summary

CLA (CliftonLarsonAllen) is seeking a Controller with Professional Service Organization experience to join our CAAS (Client Accounting & Advisory Services) team in Milwaukee. You will work 1:1 with clients to provide customized accounting services and financial leadership.

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor's degree and about 6 years of accounting/financial experience, preferably in professional services, with QuickBooks and MS Office proficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; combination of related experience may be accepted.
• 6 years of accounting/financial experience required (pro services experience highly preferred).
• CPA certification preferred but not required.
• Proficiency with accounting software; QuickBooks experience highly preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.
• Travel: in-office role with local travel to client sites and occasional non-local travel.

Responsibilities

• Develops internal control policies, guidelines, and procedures for budgeting, cash, credit, and accounting activities.
• Directs financial planning, budgeting, procurements, or investments for all or part of an organization.
• Prepares financial information and statements and key reporting for regulators or stakeholders.
• Advise management on short- and long-term financial objectives and present to boards or bankers.

As a member of CLA’s CAAS practice, you will be an integral part of the CLA client service team and will work directly 1:1 with our clients to provide customized accounting services to support them as they manage and grow their business or organization. CLA is looking for a Controller with Professional Service Organization experience, to join our CAAS (Client Accounting & Advisory Services) practice.

Role Responsibilities

• Financials: Develops internal control policies, guidelines, and procedures for activities such as budget administration, cash and credit management, and accounting. Coordinates and directs the financial planning, budgeting, procurements, or investment activities for all or part of an organization. Prepare financial information. Prepare, or direct preparation of financial statements, business activity reports, financial position forecasts, budgets, or reports required by regulatory agencies. Evaluate needs for procurement of funds and investment of surpluses and make appropriate recommendations. Monitor ratio and key performance indicators (KPI).
• Leadership: Monitors and evaluates the performance of accounting and other financial staff, recommending and implementing actions. Advise management on short-term and long-term financial objectives, policies, and actions. Communicate on a regular basis with boards, bankers, investors, constituents, etc.; may include prepping for and/or hosting board presentations.

Education/Experience

• Education: Bachelor\'s degree is required. Combination of related experience, education, and training may be accepted in lieu of degree. CPA certification is preferred but not required.
• Experience: 6 years of relevant accounting and/or financial experience is required (pro services organization experience is highly preferred). Public accounting experience highly preferred.
• Aptitude for developing and maintaining a thorough working knowledge of accounting software and systems. QuickBooks experience is highly preferred.
• Proficiency with applicable software (Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).
• Travel: This position requires working primarily in-office, including local travel to/from client sites (depending on location), as well as occasional non-local or overnight travel for client visits, training, meetings and/or other business-related purposes.

• An understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (FASB/SFAS) or other comprehensive basis of accounting
