Job summary

CLA Wealth Advisors, LLC in Minneapolis, MN, seeks a Controller with nonprofit industry experience to join our CAAS practice. You will develop internal controls, manage budgeting and financial planning, and prepare financial statements, while collaborating with boards and clients to support organizational growth.

The role requires a bachelor's degree, 7 years of nonprofit accounting experience, and familiarity with QuickBooks and Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree is required.
• CPA certification is preferred but not required.
• 7 years of relevant accounting and/or financial experience is required (Nonprofit industry and back-office accounting experience is highly preferred).
• Public accounting experience preferred.
• Aptitude for developing and maintaining a thorough working knowledge of accounting software and systems.
• QuickBooks experience is preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.

Responsibilities

• Develop internal control policies, guidelines, and procedures for activities such as budget administration, cash and credit management, and accounting.
• Coordinate and direct the financial planning, budgeting, procurements, or investment activities for all or part of an organization.
• Prepare financial information.
• Prepare and/or direct preparation of financial statements, business activity reports, financial position forecasts, budgets, or reports required by regulatory agencies.
• Evaluate needs for procurement of funds and investment of surpluses and make appropriate recommendations.
• Monitor ratio and key performance indicators (KPI).
• Monitor and evaluate the performance of accounting and other financial staff, recommending and implementing actions.
• Advise management on short-term and long-term financial objectives, policies, and actions.
• Communicate on a regular basis with boards, bankers, investors, constituents, etc.; may include prepping for and/or hosting board presentations.

Compensation

Our approach to compensation emphasizes collaboration and career growth. We pay competitive wages and view compensation as an investment in our people. Factors such as geography, experience, education, skills, and knowledge may impact position of pay within the range. The compensation range for this position in Minnesota is: $98,000.00 – $168,000.00
