Job summary

CLA is seeking a Controller for our Non-Profit Services (CAAS) practice in Southern New England, with opportunities in Quincy, Andover, Boston, Worcester, New Bedford and Cranston. You’ll act as Controller for designated clients, advise on financial objectives, and manage multiple engagements while upholding nonprofit accounting standards.

Required seven years accounting/financial experience and a bachelor’s degree; CPA is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• Seven years of relevant accounting and/or financial experience required.
• Bachelor’s degree required (combination of related experience may be accepted).
• Public accounting experience preferred.
• Nonprofit experience highly preferred.
• CPA certification preferred but not required.
• Prior project management and client management experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Act as the Controller for the designated clients you service.
• Provide project management by managing multiple clients, work, and deadlines.
• Prepare and analyze client financial statements and make recommendations.
• Foster and build opportunities and attend industry-leading events and trainings.
• Maintain knowledge of the client’s organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives, and current accounting standards.
• Advise management on short-term and long-term financial objectives, policies, and actions.

CLA is looking to hire a Controller for our Non-Profit Services (CAAS) practice in Southern New England.

Opportunities are available in our Quincy, Andover, Boston, Worcester, New Bedford, MA locations as well as our Cranston, RI location.

As a Controller, you will:

• Act as the Controller for the designated clients you service.
• Take on the role of consultant and advisor to your clients on best practices for accounting and finance-related engagements.
• Provide project management expertise by managing multiple clients, work, and deadlines.
• Prepare and analyze client financial statements and make recommendations.
• Foster and build opportunities and attend industry-leading events and trainings.
• Maintain knowledge of the client’s organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives, and current accounting standards.
• Advise management on short-term and long term-financial objectives, policies, and actions.

What you will need:

• Seven years of relevant accounting and/or financial experience is required.
• Bachelor’s degree is required.
• Combination of related experience, education, and training may be accepted in lieu of degree.
• Public accounting experience preferred.
• Experience in Nonprofit is highly preferred.
• CPA certification is preferred but not required.
• Prior project management and client management experience preferred but not required.

Our approach to compensation emphasizes collaboration and career growth. We pay competitive wages and view compensation as an investment in our people. Factors such as geography, experience, education, skills, and knowledge may impact position of pay within the range.

The compensation range for this position in Massachusetts is: $116,000.00-$187,000
