Job summary

Saragossa is seeking a senior C++ leader to spearhead the front-office trading technology group. You will own the technical direction, shape the team, and drive the build-out as the firm scales.

You’ll lead a team of engineers working closely with traders to deliver high-performance, low-latency systems and set engineering standards for the platform. You’ll have authority from day one to influence architecture, code quality, and delivery, with a clear path to expanding the group as it grows in

We’re partnering with one of the best-known proprietary trading firms in the market to hire a senior C++ leader for its front-office trading technology group. This is a leadership hire. You’ll own the technical direction of the team and build it out over the next phase of growth.

The role

You’ll lead a team of 6 engineers working directly alongside traders, with plans to grow it to 8+. You’ll set architecture and engineering standards and drive the build-out of high-performance, low-latency trading systems. You’ll stay close to the code, but your main job is to shape how the group designs, ships and scales its technology.

What you’ll own

• Technical strategy and architecture for the trading platform, with a focus on latency, throughput and reliability
• Hiring, mentoring and developing the engineering team as it scales
• Working with trading leadership to turn strategy ideas into production systems quickly
• Engineering culture, code quality and delivery standards across the group

What they’re looking for

• Expertise in modern C++ and high-performance system design
• A track record of leading engineers or owning the technical direction of a team or platform
• Experience in electronic trading, from either the buy side or sell side
• Credibility with traders and the commercial sense to prioritise what moves the P&L
• Asset class background is flexible. ETF experience isn’t required.
