Job summary

Pike Electric LLC is seeking a Class C Lineman Underground for safety-focused construction and repair of electrical underground distribution systems. You will work on energized and de-energized lines and may travel to out-of-state locations as needed, reporting to the Foreman.

Essential duties include constructing and repairing underground systems, fault locating, and learning live-line switching with proper PPE.

Qualifications

  • Two (2) years of underground line experience.
  • Valid Class A CDL.
  • Willing to travel long distances on short notice.
  • Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Work extended hours including weekends, holidays, and overtime.

Responsibilities

  • Perform new construction, maintain and repair energized and de-energized underground distribution systems with safety first.
  • Assist in installing and repairing underground facilities and conductors, including troubleshooting and fault locating on primary and secondary systems.
  • Learn switching, tagging procedures, grounding, and induced voltage on energized and de-energized lines.
  • Work in confined spaces near energized equipment under direct supervision.
  • Operate and maintain excavation equipment (backhoes, trenchers, excavators, pulling equipment).
  • Work outdoors in varying environmental conditions and in outages or emergencies including on-call rotation.

Essential Functions
  • Perform new construction, maintain and repair energized and de ‑ energized underground distribution systems while putting safety first.
  • Help install and repair underground facilities, underground conductors, including trouble shooting and fault locating on primary and secondary systems.
  • Willing and able to learn switching and tagging procedures, grounding and induced voltage on energized and de-energized lines.
  • Work in confined spaces and in proximity to energized equipment with direct supervision.
  • Operate and maintain excavation equipment to include backhoes, trenchers, excavators, and pulling equipment.
  • Work outdoors in varying environmental conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, wind, and inclement weather.
  • Available to work outages, storms, emergencies including on call rotation.
  • Willing and able to learn live ‑ line work using approved PPE and insulated sticks required for testing voltage and switching of energized lines under direct supervision.
  • Follow all safety protocols including PPE use and possess a comprehensive understanding of insulated protective cover to isolate differences of potential.
Minimum Requirements
  • Two (2) years of recent underground line experience.
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
  • Willing to travel long distances on short notice.
  • Lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Work for extended periods at job locations, including out ‑ of ‑ state assignments.
  • Willing to work outside of normal business hours, including weekends, holidays, emergency callouts, and overtime.

The job frequently requires you to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle objects, operate tools or controls; reach with hands and arms.

Work Environment

While performing the responsibilities of this job, you are frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. You are occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at constructions job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. You will perform job responsibilities in extreme heat, cold, wet, windy, and storm conditions.
