Job summary

Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) seeks an entry-level Research Technician to support projects using C. elegans models to study transcription and neurodevelopmental disorders.

The role involves CRISPR-based genome editing, molecular and imaging analyses, and collaboration across cores and partners. You will assist in lab operations, maintain worm strains, document results, and contribute to data analyses and manuscript preparation.

Qualifications

  • At least one (1) year of related classroom experience or successful completion of a technical training program and research laboratory experience.
  • Experience with model organisms preferred.
  • Willingness to learn and document results accurately.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, propagate, cross, synchronize, and organize C. elegans strains.
  • Generate and validate humanized, knock-in, and other transgenic worm models using CRISPR-based genome editing.
  • Design and perform molecular, developmental, behavioral, imaging, and assay workflows to characterize disease-model phenotypes.
  • Support transcriptomic and genomics studies, including RNA-sequencing sample prep and data organization.
  • Analyze results, troubleshoot experiments, and prepare figures and manuscripts.
