Job summary

CQ Medical is looking for a Buyer/Planner responsible for material and production planning in a manufacturing area. This includes managing inventory and ensuring materials are available for production needs.

The ideal candidate will have at least three years of experience in materials planning, preferably with Infor XA. The role offers comprehensive benefits from day one and minimal travel expectations.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of three years of experience in materials planning or buying in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working with MRP systems, especially Infor XA.

Responsibilities

  • Plan manufacturing schedules to meet delivery demands and targets.
  • Release and manage Purchase Orders and Manufacturing Orders through MRP.
  • Act as a point of contact for supplier performance issues.

Job description

Summary

The Buyer/Planner is responsible for developing and executing material and production planning for a designated manufacturing area. This includes managing inventory levels, issuing purchase and manufacturing orders, and ensuring materials are available to support production needs in a timely and cost-effective manner. The role serves as the daily point of contact for supplier execution issues and ensures alignment with MRP schedules and inventory targets.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Material & Production Planning
    • Plan manufacturing schedules to meet customer delivery demands and inventory targets.
    • Release and manage Purchase Orders and Manufacturing Orders through MRP from creation to closure.
    • Review and align work center capacity needs in conjunction with Operations.
    • Adjust orders based on changing priorities, including expedites and cancellations.
    • Ensure production is supported with timely availability of materials and components.
  • Supplier & Order Execution
    • Act as a point of contact for daily supplier performance issues related to open orders.
    • Communicate changes to delivery dates and resolve tactical disruptions.
    • Participate in supplier planning feedback and performance reviews as requested.
  • ERP & Inventory Accuracy
    • Maintain accurate scheduling and order data in ERP (Infor XA).
    • Ensure timely closure and updates to orders, shipping timelines, and part availability.
    • Coordinate with warehouse and receiving to ensure alignment of material flow.
  • Cross‑Functional Support
    • Interface with Customer Service, Manufacturing, Quality, and Planning teams to resolve order fulfillment gaps.
    • Collaborate with Commodity Leaders to support the execution of long‑term sourcing strategies.
Key Metrics for Success
  • Manufacturing Orders and Purchase Orders released on time per targeted goal
  • Manufacturing Orders released without shortages per targeted goal
  • Ship date updates provided prior to the requirement per targeted goal.

Required Education And/or Experience
  • CPM/CPIM/CPSCM and/or bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in materials planning or buying in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working with MRP systems within a manufacturing job shop environment; Infor XA experience preferred.
Other Useful Skills & Abilities
  • Attention to Detail – Strong ability to maintain order accuracy and track changes.
  • Communication – Clear communicator with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • ERP/MRP Fluency – Able to manage scheduling, ordering, and transactional accuracy.
  • Problem Solving – Able to resolve day‑to‑day supplier and planning conflicts effectively.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Work Environment & Travel

This role operates in a manufacturing environment with regular interaction across planning, purchasing, and production teams. Minimal travel expected (<10%).
