Job summary

Nidec Minster Corporation is seeking a Buyer/Planner to plan and control manufacturing and purchase orders to support on-time production schedules. The role balances productivity with inventory control and expedites materials following MRP logic.

Responsibilities include reviewing MRP messages, addressing shortages, and working with suppliers and internal departments to ensure smooth material flow from suppliers to customers. SAP experience and APICS certification are beneficial.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
• Knowledge of MRP/ERP concepts; APICS certification desired; SAP experience a plus.
• 3-5 years of experience in production planning or procurement.
• Ability to perform computations or analysis using basic statistical, financial or logical concepts; or complex mathematical concepts.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Release and act on manufacturing orders in support of the department work schedule and shipment plan set forth by the master production schedule.
• Review and act on MRP messages as they relate to manufacturing and purchase orders.
• Review and respond to shortages daily.
• Resolve transaction discrepancies.
• Work with other departments to develop a smooth flow of material from suppliers to customers.
• Responsible for procurement of all commodity type items along with straight Buy items.
• Monitor Internal and External supplier performance in areas of Cost, Quality, Delivery, and Service. Works with suppliers to develop solutions.
• Ensures inventory levels for all components supporting Production Schedule, inclusive of components not supported by BOM, are in support of production requirements with the least inventory investment.
• Supports inventory accuracy on all stock areas supporting the Final Assembly schedule. This is completed through support of cycle counting and managing "Point of Use" suppliers.
• Make recommendations involving manning levels and supplier selection.
• Develop and refine metrics for tracking both supplier and assembly performance.
• Manage non-conforming material to respective suppliers.
