Job summary

Milacron is seeking a Buyer to join our team in McPherson, KS. You will procure materials for APPT Machinery, manage inventory planning, support production schedules, and coordinate supply chain activities to ensure product availability and on-time delivery.

Responsibilities

• Execute material procurement activities and manage purchase orders based on MRP requirements.
• Monitor inventory levels and maintain appropriate safety stock, reorder points, and min/max settings.
• Develop and communicate forecast plans with sales, supply chain, and manufacturing teams.
• Coordinate with sales and product management to validate demand forecasts and inventory requirements.
• Maintain item master data, branch plant records, and ABC classifications by SKU.
• Administer interplant warehouse transfers and identify potential product shortages.
• Review and respond to MRP messages to ensure a consistent flow of materials.
• Expedite late, missing, or incorrect orders and resolve delivery, pricing, and quality concerns with supplier support.

Work You’ll Do:

• Support management initiatives focused on cost reduction, quality improvement, and delivery performance.
• Execute material procurement activities and manage purchase orders based on MRP requirements.
• Monitor inventory levels and maintain appropriate safety stock, reorder points, and min/max settings.
• Develop and communicate forecast plans with sales, supply chain, and manufacturing teams.
• Coordinate with sales and product management to validate demand forecasts and inventory requirements.
• Maintain item master data, branch plant records, and ABC classifications by SKU.
• Administer interplant warehouse transfers and identify potential product shortages.
• Review and respond to MRP messages to ensure a consistent flow of materials.
• Expedite late, missing, or incorrect orders and resolve delivery, pricing, and quality concerns with supplier support.
• Process drop shipments, support engineering change releases, and create work orders to balance supply and demand.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor’s degree in a supply chain-related field and at least 2 years of buying/planning experience, or a minimum of 3 years of related experience required.
• Working knowledge of supply chain metrics.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with all levels of the organization.
• Ability to work successfully in a cross-functional environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Ability to analyze inventory, forecasting, and procurement data to support business objectives.
• Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds and perform physical requirements associated with a manufacturing environment.
