Job summary

A leading IT services company in Golden Valley, MN, seeks a Production Planning Specialist to support scheduling, expediting, and material availability. Job Description

This position exists to provide support to the assigned value stream in the areas of scheduling, expediting, and material availability.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Detailed material requirements planning
  • Utilizes Enterprise Resources Planning (ERP) systems to assure availability of materials and control of inventory levels for assigned production lines.
  • Monitors and reacts to exception messages (e.g. Purchase Order/Discrete Job actions, capacity)
  • Issue requisitions for purchased material
  • Develop forecasts for Suppliers
  • Maintenance of the Final Assembly Schedule
  • Develop and maintain releasing centers
  • Utilize available data sources to develop and implement level-load strategies
  • Release discrete jobs as necessary
  • Manages and responds to customer expedites
  • Promising of customer orders
  • Process scrap transactions
  • Participate in daily Tier 2 (production line accountability) meetings
  • Maintenance of item parameters and order modifiers
  • Participate in the investigation and resolution of transaction errors (e.g., WIP transactions)
  • Performance analysis
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Experience with SAP preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a production planning role
  • Proficient with MS Office suite
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills required
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, materials management, technical or related discipline preferred; in lieu of degree will consider a minimum of 3 years materials planning or Integrated Supply Chain experience. Must have at least a HS diploma on file.

Contacts: This function as a support function works closely with demand manager, factory team leaders, buyers, manufacturing engineering, design engineering quality engineering and assemblers.

Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.
