Job summary

Woodgrain, a leading millwork producer, seeks a procurement professional in Missouri to manage imported fasteners and optimize asset use. You will execute short and long-term strategies ensuring quality, continuity, and timely supply while minimizing total cost.

You will analyze lead times, inventory, and supplier performance; issue POs, manage EOQ, and coordinate regional buying to improve availability. Strong detail orientation and negotiation skills are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Uses MRP and Incoterms to consolidate requisitions from qualified suppliers.
  • Expedites products to meet delivery commitments when needed.
  • Reconciles receipts and invoices to ensure payment under agreed terms.
  • Coordinates regional and multi-branch buying strategies to improve availability and inventory.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Responsible for buying all imported Huttig-Grip product, which is primarily fasteners. Optimizes the use of company assets in the acquisition of assigned goods and services. Execution of short and long-term strategies to ensure quality, continuity, and timeliness of supply while minimizing total product and supply chain cost.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Other duties may be assigned.

  • Analyzes quantities on hand, supplier lead-time, inventory and economic order quantities daily to determine purchase order requirements.
  • Performs tasks associated with issuing PO's, reducing cost, improving lead times and increasing sourcing reliability.
  • Ensures purchased goods are sourced on a timely basis within suppliers’ capacity; ensure PO's are issued correctly to mitigate risk to the company.
  • Analyzes TLC report and uses current material resource planning (MRP) system to make purchasing decisions from all qualified and approved suppliers.
  • Knowledgeable of international purchasing basics (Incoterms, International commercial code). Demand management review to generate consolidated requisitions.
  • Expedites product when necessary to meet required delivery commitments
  • Reconciles product receipts and invoices to ensure proper payment within mutually agreed payment terms.
  • Manages the appropriate levels of inventory at branch or region based on lead-time, EOQ, safety stock, etc. incorporating six sigma statistical measures where appropriate.
  • Evaluates and coordinates disposition of slow moving and obsolete inventory with current corporate policies of Huttig Building Products.
  • Procures appropriate product needs, upon request, to support select branch, regional and corporate product strategies.
  • Coordinates and execute regional and multi-branch buying strategies, as assigned, to improve overall product availability and inventory performance.
  • Key performance metrics include: On-time delivery, fill rates, inventory turns, E&O inventory, invoice errors, product outages, inbound freight costs, duty cost, purchase price variance, and warehouse lead-time, etc.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university, and one to two years related experience and/or training

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions in a professional manner from all stakeholders, both internal and external.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
