McGard LLC in Orchard Park, NY, is seeking a Buyer II for a first-shift role with an option for a 9/80 and flexible schedule. Salary ranges from $65,000 to $80,000 annually, DOE.

The position is salaried, with a 1st shift, Monday–Friday expectation and potential for overtime and weekends. The Buyer II will manage procurement of materials and services, negotiate with suppliers, and support continuous improvement efforts within a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of purchasing or procurement experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
• Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office suite.

RESPONSIBILITY:

Manages the procurement of materials, supplies, and services to support production and operational needs. This role involves sourcing, expediting, negotiating, and maintaining supplier relationships, while also contributing to process improvement and vendor performance initiatives.

JOB DUTIES:

• Committed to ensuring the achievement of continuous improvement within area of expertise, as well as areas of business in order to remain at the forefront of meeting Company objectives, thus proactively satisfying customers.
• This position mandates that all required safety classes, trainings, and certifications be completed and maintained within the specific position/department.
• Is aware of relevance and importance of their activities and how they contribute to the achievement of the quality objectives.
• This position requires an employee to work their regularly scheduled shift; ability to work overtime and weekends.
• Must be aware of and comply with related IATF/ISO procedures, as applicable.
• Must meet qualitative and quantitative standards for the position and department.
• Independently manage procurement of chemicals, MRO supplies, and production materials.
• Expedite and monitor delivery of critical materials, especially for high-priority or rush jobs.
• Execute quotations and maintain competitive sourcing practices.
• Coordinate closely with planning and production teams on material availability and schedule changes.
• Trace and resolve delayed or missing shipments, working with suppliers to ensure delivery commitments are met.
• Review and approve receiving and billing documentation for accuracy and resolution of discrepancies.
• Conduct ongoing supplier market research and support vendor evaluations to optimize sourcing decisions.
• Recommend and implement improvements in purchasing procedures and systems.
• Provide mentorship or support to junior buyers as needed.
• Support continuous improvement efforts and help drive efficiency in the procurement process.

EDUCATION / SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and orally.
• Associate’s degree in business, Supply Chain, or related field; certification (i.e., CPSM, CPIM) preferred.
• Two to five (2–5) years’ of purchasing or procurement experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
• Proficient in ERP systems and understanding of supply chain best practices.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Experience in the operation of computers.
• Knowledge of standard purchasing procedures and practices.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work cross-functionally with internal and external stakeholders.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Position requires individual to be capable of traveling & working throughout the entire facility, within reasonable accommodation. The noise level is usually moderate.
• Occasional travel (up to 10%) may be required for visits to vendors and suppliers.
