Qualifications

  • 1–3+ years of purchasing, procurement, or buyer experience.
  • Experience within PVF, industrial distribution, fabrication, manufacturing, or related industry.
  • Buying and purchasing experience related to industrial materials (pipe, valves, fittings).
  • Experience managing inventory levels and material availability for stock and customer orders.
  • Strong communication skills for relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Comfort with ERP systems and data entry for POs and suppliers.

Job Title: Buyer IIJob Description

The Buyer II supports purchasing activities for both customer projects and stock inventory, ensuring materials are available on time while balancing cost, quality, and delivery objectives. This role works closely with operations, warehouse, sales, and supplier partners to drive purchasing efficiency, support company growth, and achieve key performance metrics.

Responsibilities
  • Purchase pipe, valves, fittings (PVF) and related industrial materials to support customer orders and inventory requirements.
  • Manage inventory levels and replenishment activities to maintain appropriate stock availability.
  • Source materials from qualified suppliers and evaluate supplier performance, pricing, and lead times.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules with vendors to achieve cost and service objectives.
  • Monitor demand trends and recommend purchasing strategies that align with business needs.
  • Collaborate with operations, warehouse, and sales teams to ensure materials are available when needed for both stock and project-based demand.
  • Track, analyze, and achieve purchasing and inventory-related KPIs and other measurable performance markers.
  • Identify and propose process improvements and initiatives that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and profitability.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records, including purchase orders and supplier information, within the company’s ERP system.
  • Take ownership of assigned responsibilities, follow through on commitments, and consistently meet performance expectations.
  • Demonstrate initiative by looking for ways to improve processes and help take the purchasing function to the next level.
Essential Skills
  • 1–3+ years of purchasing, procurement, or buyer experience.
  • Experience within PVF, industrial distribution, fabrication, manufacturing, or a closely related industry.
  • Buying and purchasing experience specifically related to industrial materials such as pipe, valves, and fittings.
  • Experience managing inventory levels and material availability to support both stock and customer orders.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build and maintain productive relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to negotiate effectively with suppliers on pricing, terms, and delivery schedules.
  • Strong organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Comfort working with ERP systems, including entering and maintaining accurate purchase order and supplier data (training provided as needed).
  • Demonstrated ability to meet measurable KPIs and performance goals.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience purchasing for both stock and project-based demand.
  • Prior ERP system experience in any platform, with willingness to learn a proprietary system.
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding performance metrics and KPIs.
  • Demonstrated initiative, curiosity, and a strong willingness to learn and improve.
  • Consistent work ethic, including reliable attendance and pride in work output.
  • Positive, team-oriented attitude with a focus on collaboration and mutual support.
  • Strong sense of accountability, ownership of responsibilities, and follow-through.
  • Motivation to grow within a newer purchasing team and advance as the organization continues its planned expansion.
Work Environment

This role operates in an office setting located within a new 200,000-square-foot facility. The purchasing team currently consists of three people, with plans to grow to five by fall of 2027, offering opportunities to contribute to a developing function and advance as the team expands. The environment emphasizes measurable performance through clearly defined KPIs and goals, with a focus on discipline, a good attitude, and continuous improvement. You will work daily with a modern ERP system and collaborate closely with operations, warehouse, and sales teams in a professional, growth-oriented setting.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Irving, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $39.00/hr.
