Job summary

Mission Critical Electronics is seeking a Buyer/Planner to source electro-mechanical components and manage day-to-day production planning through MRP and job boards. You will build schedules, place POs, and drive supply continuity in a fast-paced, tech-driven environment.

The role emphasizes strategic sourcing, supplier onboarding, and cost control while collaborating with engineering, manufacturing, and planning teams for new product introductions. This office-based role is Costa Mesa, CA.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or related field.
  • 2-5+ years of purchasing experience, preferably in electronics or manufacturing.
  • Experience working with suppliers.
  • Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite).
  • Advanced Excel and data analysis skills.

Responsibilities

  • Source and procure electro-mechanical components (e.g., semiconductors, PCBs, connectors).
  • Run the daily MRP and manage the job board and PO placement.
  • Develop and implement sourcing strategies to mitigate supply risks.
  • Identify, evaluate, and onboard suppliers, including global manufacturers.
  • Negotiate pricing, lead times, and long-term supply agreements.
  • Monitor market trends and supplier performance.

About the Role:
Buyer/Planner
Overview

The Buyer/Planner is responsible for sourcing and procuring electronic components and related materials to support production and product development as well as planning the day to day production, ordering, safety stocks and shipping through the MRP and Job Board This role focuses on strategic sourcing, supplier management, cost control, and ensuring continuity of supply in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Source and procure electro-mechanical components (e.g., semiconductors, PCBs, connectors, passive components, metals, wire, inverters)
  • Run the daily MRP and create and maintain the job board and PO placement, build schedules and drive to completion.
  • Develop and implement sourcing strategies to mitigate supply chain risks and component shortages
  • Identify, evaluate, and onboard suppliers, including global and contract manufacturers
  • Negotiate pricing, lead times, and long-term supply agreements
  • Monitor market trends, including component availability, lifecycle status, and pricing fluctuations
  • Manage supplier performance (quality, delivery, cost, and responsiveness)
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and planning teams to support new product introductions (NPI)
  • Ensure availability of components to meet production schedules and minimize downtime
  • Review and manage BOM (Bill of Materials) costs and identify cost-reduction opportunities
  • Handle obsolescence management and recommend alternate or substitute components
  • Maintain accurate procurement data in ERP/MRP systems
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., RoHS, REACH) and company policies
