Job summary

Blue Origin LLC is seeking a Buyer to develop strategic procurement solutions and perform day-to-day purchasing for spaceflight programs. You will manage the requisition-to-payment lifecycle, negotiate and implement LTAs, and drive efficiencies across Blue Origin’s supply chain.

The role emphasizes collaboration, analysis, and process development within the Blue Origin Operations team, including manufacturing and supply chain support across facilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or supply chain.
  • 0-3 years of progressive procurement experience.
  • Ability to communicate across all levels of the organization.
  • US citizen or eligible to work in the US.

This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities. As part of a hardworking team of professionals, specialists, and engineers, you will develop strategic procurement solutions and complete day to day tactical purchasing functions for various spaceflight systems. You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of supply chain operations, driving organizational and policy change to enhance Blue Origin’s bottom-line. Key candidate attributes to facilitate success in this role include influencing, facilitation, presentation, communication, process development, analysis, and problem solving. Responsibilities
  • Our Buyer will ensure program requirements are appropriately prioritized and executed to meet the needs Blue Origin. They will be competent in Blue Origin Supply Chain compliance standards, strategies, and initiatives.
  • Prepare and issue Requests for Proposal/ Requests for Quote, performing cost analysis in support of proposals, and have developed negotiation strategies and led formal negotiations.
  • Construct various contracting types for major procurement activities to meet the requirements of the programs and needs of the business to include long range procurement agreements, sourcing partnerships, continuous improvement initiatives, and identification of opportunities for enhanced efficiencies.
  • Take ownership of the procurement process from requisition creation through final payment of invoices and are accountable to resolve issues within this process.
  • Supplier management is a critical aspect of the job. Lead identification, implementation, negotiation, execution, and management of strategic agreements (i.e., Long-Term Agreements (LTAs)) where mutually beneficial.
  • Support the overall procurement organization’s strategic direction and ensure corporate strategic objectives are achieved to include delivery of production materials that are on time, within budget and meet technical performance requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or similar education
  • 0-3 years of progressive procurement experience; supplier identification, supplier evaluation, negotiation, and supplier development across multiple products, services, and commodities
  • Positive, can-do mentality Ability to organize and manage multiple projects and tasks in a fast-paced demanding environment
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with a broad range of people across, up and down all levels of the organization
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) Certification
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
  • Varied experience in Machined Parts, Raw Material, Electronics, and Outplant Services buying

Required for Certain Job Profiles: Drivers who operate Commercial Motor Vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW), Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) or combination of power unit and trailer that meets or exceeds 10,001 lbs. and/or transports placardable amounts of hazardous materials by ground in any vehicle on a public road while in commerce, may be subject to additional Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations including: Driver Qualification Files, Medical Certification (obtained before onboarding), Road Test, Hours of Service, Drug and Alcohol Testing, vehicle inspection requirements, CDL requirements (if applicable) and hazardous materials transportation/shipping training.

Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical.
